For Canon 40D.

(My old ebays are just too unreliable... getting pretty embarrassing)

========
Pocket Wizard Plus II Transceiver.

Say for example, I buy one to put on my flash, I buy one to put on my camera. If I buy a third, can I use it as a wireless shutter release for my camera? So the transceiver in my hand will trigger both the camera and the remote flash?

3 x $250 = $750 CAN .... cha-ching
========

Elinchrom EL Skyport Universal Trigger, comes with one transmitter & one receiver. $230 CAN. A more cost effective solution to my remote flashes, but I don't know if there's an included shutter release method. One transmitter in my hand, receivers on camera & flash???

Short answer: yes

Long answer:
You will need a special cord to go from the Pocket Wizard to your camera.

You will probably find that the camera doesn't fire quickly enough to sync with the flash. You will then end up running a cord from your camera to the flash.

If you have to have both on wireless, then you would need to put a PW on the hot shoe of the 40D set to a different channel then the trigger in your hand.

So PW in hand, channel 1
PW to fire camera, channel 1
PW on camera hot shoe, channel 2
PW on flash, channel 2

much more cha-ching

Thanks, Shanks.

4x PWs !!! screw that! >:-(

I'll have to look at Canon's wireless trigger, it must be less than $500...

Slippy, I don't know if this helps, but I bought one of these cheapies quite some time ago for my 40D. It still works on the 5DII as well.
I don't remember how much I paid, but I believe it was less than the $60 one I linked to.

It has been working well, triggers the camera (and, of course, the flash, too ..... as long as that is ON the camera).

I have the same one. It's terrible for me on quick shots, won't sync up with flashes, ever, even when I put the shutter speed down to 1/120 sec. It has been good for bulb exposures for fireworks.

Talk to Lon at FlashZebra as there are cables there that work. I use it on a 20D with no issue.

Did you also check out the Cybers... Little cheaper then skyports and I love mine.
