Canon has reported that some EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III cameras have a problem in the accuracy of the AF (autofocusing) feature. If an AF point other than the centre AF point is used, focus may become soft. There is also an abnormal mirror operation with some of these cameras which gives an 'Err 99' message.

Go to the Canon USA website and select Support > Consumer from the red menu bar of the home page. Select 'EOS (SLR) Camera Systems' in the 'Select Category' field of the Product Menu. Click on the 'EOS Camera System Product Advisories' button which appears. This will take you to a menu listing the 'AF Accuracy Adjustment' and 'Abnormal Mirror Operation' Service Notices.
