Just thought worth mentioning, I use Aperture which automatically imports my photos either direct from my camera, or card reader straight into a library. I can then make edits inside Aperture which are stored in a separate file. From there I can export to PS where it will automatically create a duplicate for editing and open with PS3.

I have had 2 RAW files successfully validated which both went through this process. I'm sure other management software will do the same sort of stuff (e.g. Lightroom), so if this is such a major issue for you you might want to consider the price of this type of software well worth it for this factor alone.

So if I import a photo from the camera to Lightroom it automatically adds the RAW image to a folder (Ex: 3-01-2009). The image is a cr2 raw file. Is this an acceptable format?
