Just about all my interesting pre-DPC digital images I processed before thinking about workflow, so they are saves on originals and can't be entered. I'll troll through the shots since 2004 and see what I may be missing (I've learned a lot about processing since then) but I actually have a shot I really like right now that would be a candidate for this or the March FS...

I have a shot that I just took as well that I really like and I was going to enter it in the free study. But I figure there is still 27 days left for that :)

You just saved me some anguish... I was leaning heavily towards a shot, but this made me think about how I would have transferred it at the time I took it...

Glad I saw this earlier rather than later, Thanks !!!

This sucks. I'm thinking that my ATF photo was taken on film and processed onto a CD. At the time I was using both a film and digital camera. Most were taken on the digital at the time but I don't think this one was. Yeah well. I will just have to check and if it was then I will have to search for another.

I've had a digital camera for about a year now.
So I don't many, and don't expect to win.
But I posted what I think was my best to date.
Maybe it will help Langston with the goals he wishes to achieve.

Then, I would ask you to question yourself about whether or not you truly love the picture, or the reaction that you hope it will garner.

If a shot is something you truly like/love then what does it matter what the voters think. Sometimes it is fun to just share part of yourself, and to heck with the scores.

true. But low votes still sting. It gets under my skin. I'm gonna submit something anyway.

Good luck to all who enter in the challenge. It should be pretty interesting and enjoyable to look through.

Argh...let's see I have what?- 6 days to agonize

- I went back in my archives all the way back to 2004 and found 5 possibilities (all original files with EXIF data).

And my husband jokes it is because I don't know how to delete anything from my camera card:-) Tis absolutely not true!!!...but I do need to clear some stuff:-D

Pfft... I just glanced at my iPhoto libraries, and I've got them "narrowed down" to only 40,000 images. With a few more in Aperture, I should be able to single out an entry by mid-April. :-/

AFAIK, any time before the submission deadline should be fine -- pictures from the future are ineligible. ;-)

Thank you. I did just read more on it and it said anything as long as it hasnt been entered in a previous challenge. I guess I have some work to do.

Can someone give me a tutorial on how to make a Kentucky sky have aurora lights? hahahah.

actually, I saw auroras in Virginia once! Of course they were kinda dull, only green, and not moving very much... but they were auroras!

No kidding? hahahah

My husband says that is what makes places like Iceland and Alaska so special. Those aurora skies. hahaha. If he had his way I would be driving to live in Alaska tonight! hahah.

Yeah, I think I read a NASA article recently about a time they were seen as far south as San Diego or so ... the new Solar Cycle is just gearing up, and Spring is Aurora Season ... an exerpt:

"Now for the good news: More solar storms also means more auroras—"the greatest show on Earth." During the last solar maximum, Northern Lights were spotted as far south as Arizona, Florida and California."

Where has our magnetosphere gone?! GE!?

I take it we might seem some Aurora here in NY soon, I hope so soon, because all my images and hidden gems were already used for challenges mostly, my outtakes are all in my portfolio, and don't get much attn. Might have to plan a trip for this one...

He'll probably submit the one with the ant carrying a bio-engineered ear of corn, with each foot painted like a soccer cleat and dribbling 6 soccer balls while riding on a magic carpet, being chased by a giant labrador. ;O

Obviously we're going to be voting on pics that most of us have seen before. I see lots of popular portfolio/side challenge shots going in. So anonymity isn't really an issue in this one. Sound right?

If you're like me you might recognise a shot but 99% of the time not be able to remember whose it is. And this challenge, IMO, is a bit more of celebration than serious, so I'm hoping voters might cut a little slack on any familiar shots.

Dilemma. Having trawlled through my (limited) archives of anything that is not a snapshot/Kids/family etc pre my time on DPC I have chosen 2 images. One that I think would do ok on a DPC challenge and is a nice/good picture and the other that I just love because it captures a moments in time, it tells a story and quite simply I love it, BUT without the explanation behind it might be a bit lost and suffer on the votes. Should I submitt for the votes or for me? Head or Heart?

always submit for you!

I'd go with "head"... There's nothing more discouraging to see a shot one loves get hammered just because people won't "get it"....

I have no idea what to enter. I went through those images where I saved the EXIF data and so many of the ones I love, I've already entered in challenges over the years, OR the editing is "expert" and isn't allowed. Hmmmmm. I guess I better plod through them again. :~)
