In light of recent events, my alternate scoring of the current and future DPC Olympics is hereby cancelled.

Congratulations to TEAM AUSTRALIA for the resounding victory this season. Looks like losing some dead weight improved the team.

Essentially Kevin decided that since there was a lot of opposition to him unilaterally deciding to not include the Gem challenge, he could not actually apologize and correct the situation, so he cancelled the alt scoring altogether.

Kevin announced that he would not include Challenge #1000 in his alternate scoring plan for DPCO4, and he stated his reasons. There was a lot of discussion regarding these reasons, and little agreement on ~~both~~ either side. After the usual resulting insults, Kevin started this thread.

I have to admit that I'm disappointed by the decision to cancel the Alternate Scoring. Though, considering the tone of the discussion in the other thread(s), I'm not at all surprised.

HawkeyeLonewolf... thanks for your effort. I wish there was some way we could get you to reconsider cancelling.

I just read through the other thread. I'm not in DPCO, nor do I care how it's scored, but I have to say that the attacks against someone who was doing this on his own time, in his own way, as a service to the participants, were not only uncalled for, but downright rude. Sad to see. I don't blame him for cancelling the service at all, but do think it may be worth considering continuing for the sake of those many participants who had nothing to do with the other argument.

There is no point in keeping an alternative scoring to the DPCO if you do not use the same challenges to base it on. That part is pretty simple. When that is pointed out to him, he lashes out (again) at others for not agreeing with him.

Even his announcement at the start of this thread takes a shot at Judi as being "dead wood". So while I do regret that what was originally a good idea (the alt scoring based on avg) has ended up in this mess, please do not try to make a martyr out of Hawkeye. He was very vocal himself and certainly not an innocent person who was attacked for no reason.

If you care to look at the thread about nude images being on DPC from a few days ago you will notice that this was simply an extension of the same attitude.

You may not have been involved in the nude discussion but it was certainly playing on your mind when you posted in the thread regarding the DPCO alternative scoring.

Therefore I standby my statement that you have blurred the lines of these two issues and it appears that your resistance to allow

HawkeyeLonewolf operates his scoring method is influenced by your dislike to his stance on the nudes issue.

Everything you do in life has consequences.

It seems to me Kevin if you had asked those involved if they thought challenge #1000 should be included, and then made a decision based on the responses, that this whole process would have been a lot easier. Alternatively you could have discussed it with

Dirt_Diver to figure out what was best for everybody. To decide not to include the alternate scoring even though it is dependent on the DPCO really doesn't make much sense. You put your own opinion ahead of the 111 other people who are participating in the side challenge. After all, it is the DPCO-Alternate scoring, not DPCO-Independent scoring.

No I don't condone people lashing out at each other, or name calling, but I don't think it's going too far out on a limb to say they resort to that because your opinions tend to be absolute.
