I am so tired of dealing with people who have no idea how to do the simplest things to act like the professional they profess to be - like returning phone calls!!!

I had a closing scheduled for tomorrow. I called the title company to make sure everything is good to go. She said they had not yet received the paperwork from the lender. She called the lender and then called me back to say that the lender told her we are not closing tomorrow and all parties were aware of it. Huh? Nope...don't think so. I called my client, the buyer - he had not heard anything.

I am ready to strangle this lender guy. We had a problem with the appraisal and wasted precious time not being aware of it because it sat on his desk untouched for a week until I asked for a copy. I found the problem when I read my copy.

I asked at the end of last week for a status report going into the weekend - nothing.

My buyer called him, and the lender said "Hi, I wanted to tell you..." and the buyer said hey - I called YOU Were you not even going to bother to let us know about this problem and just show up tomorrow at the closing? He then proceeded to let this guy know that if we don't close tomorrow, another lender will be called.

There's more to it, but the bottom line is : Do your job people!

okay...don't know that I feel better, but maybe a little :)

Agreed! In general, people suck at returning phone calls, emails, or following up on things today. It's so frustrating to have to stay on top of people to get things done. It seems to almost be acceptable to just not do things you don't want to do?

I do love it that people thank me for simply calling them back and returning emails, and that just doing my job makes me look god like compared to the masses!

I understand your frustration. You figure with all the way we have nowadays people should be able to keep track of things.

That's true. I've gotten listings simply by telling the sellers who want a 4% "discount" broker to save money (full service brokerage in my market is more 6%) to call that broker about one of their listings on the weekend. 9 times out of 10 that office is closed on weekends and you're lucky to get a call back. And when do buyers generally look at listings.....? Yup - weekends. Cheap isn't too cheap if it takes an additional 6 months to sell your house - if it sells at all. It takes me about 10 minutes a week to update a client on the listing activity for the week on their home. But the fact that I communicate without them having to track me down all the time does make an impression. Sad, but true.

It looks like we're not closing tomorrow...I'm hoping by the end of the week - but the lender never DID call me.
