My daughter has been chosen along with 7 other girls to represent NZ at the Canadian Girl Guide Jamboree in July 2010. It will be an incredible life changing experience for her and we are very proud :)
For this we will need to fundraise $5000- $6000 NZD for this. I have been looking into high interest savings accounts to deposit funds raised into.
I have found this account smartypig which is the first of its kind in NZ. It offers the best interest and has the added bonus of using a widget in a social network site ( not that I really know what that means LOL ).
I have never had anything to do with social networking sites I have never really visited them and I dont have a presence in any of them.
However I am willing to set up a page or something for the specific purpose of being a site to share with everyone how fundraising is going. In particular we are looking into her doing a sponsored bike ride. and it would be quite useful to share how training is going etc
So what is the best and most reputable site.........LOL i guess that maybe a loaded question but I'm interested in peoples opinions :) |

I'm not 100% sure for New Zealand but Facebook is absolutely massive, in terms of people you'd be able to reach there's not much competition on numbers. |

We wouldn't want to "reach" total strangers as such just more for people who want to support her. I wouldnt feel comfortable in asking total strangers to donate. More that anyone who has shown any support, donated or sponsored could go to to see how she is going.
So what is the difference between myspace and facebook?

I'd say that facebook is more more organized and policed than myspace. Myspace is rather dead these days I think. I don't know anyone who still uses myspace over facebook. |

Gee I'm glad I asked! I had no idea at all and I might have gone with myspace LOL. Seems like Facebook is the way to go...is it easy to use and set up? |

Facebook has a clean look, is very organised and has more intuitive networking abilities. Myspace! I closed that a long time ago. It has a real creepy, disorganised, underworld gothic kind of appeal. That's just my opinion :) |

Here is an example of a group my friend set up for a charity event she was taking part in, I'd say it's normally a good idea to put more detail in than she has but that's just me!
