I'm looking forward to submiiting another reject this weekend.

I know what my acceptance rate is, but I'm wondering what percentage of overall submissions get published? (Sorry if it's been discussed already -- didn't see it though.)

Eheheh
That's the big difference between DPC and 1x
DPC cares about sharp
1x cares about light

Rejected! 3/5 and my upload slots are shrinking. I went from 10 to 7 with my last rejection and I'll probably drop to 3 or 4 with this one.

I voted to publish this shot also. I really like the perspective and the expressions of the cows.

It will work in B&W. Do a nice, crisp conversion and I'd bet it will do better.

eta: I tried it and it looks good.

Goofy cow faces are published to death recently. Bar probably set fairly high at this point.

If I must. :P Seriously, I may only have a couple more 1x style shots in my collection. I actually thought the goofy cows had a good chance...

Another rejection albeit it was a blue ribbon winner here.....

However, I think I'm starting to understand better, story is the big issue for me, a photo with a story is essential.

I'm a bit put off by 1x.com....first they reject images based mostly on their personal preferences, and not on the technical merit of the image. But one of the moderators is really the thing that has put me off the most. I posted one of my rejects for others to comment on a couple days ago. Excuse me for working at my job so much and not being able to be on their site instead....the moderator had the nerve to send me a message telling me I needed to make sure I marked comments left as useful since after all they did take the time to leave a comment. Well first of all, I read the comments WHEN I can go to their site (not high on my priorities when I have bills to pay), then I WILL DECIDE if the comment is indeed useful. grrrrrr

Not a high contrast... Simply a poor image... Rejected by Lars, the Swedish genius.

I went to the image and commented back to the commenters - all except the mod who pm'd me insisting I mark everything as useful. :P

Well, since I thought I was getting all hot stuff with my 3 weekly slots and all, I thought I'd go with some happy fare. Not only that. Happy fare with kids! Definite recipe for rejection. I did cave and do one of them in a sepia. :)

I would rather be rejected by 3-5 studied Screeners than put my images up for judgement by the masses.

Generally speaking most of the images posted in this thread, that were rejected, make perfect sense to me. They may have been nice, fine images but not great. That includes my own rejects as well, though I do think they may have gotten one or two wrong. I'd still prefer they err on the exclusive side of things.

I do like the fact that they judge based on imapct over "technical merit" or else you would have another "waterdrop site"..., in other words, technically stunning images of absolutely no substance, whatsoever.

If images are great but slightly lacking, technically, they also have a chance to get published which is a breath of fresh air. If those choices were left entirely up to the public side of the screening, they wouldn't get through and I would probably have no use for the site if that were the case.

This image titled: Pricess Sun showed me that there are plenty of clueless folks out there so I'll take the screeners anyday over the rest.

Comments from members: Girl should be in focus rather than the sun

Additional feedback: Of those who voted against your image, three indicated that there is a problem with sharpness, three noted technical quality as a weakness and one selected story as a reason for not publishing the image.

LOL. As you can tell I'm pretty baked on opinions from the Average Joe(The Plumber). Done for a lifetime. I don't suffer fools lightly (gladly).
