I have a brown truck wandering around with my new pc on it..... and the CRITICAL part of the setup is outstanding....

I need a cool name that is not hard for me to spell - anything goes. I already have Gandalf, Thor, Yeti and Atlas (big old NAS box for RAID5 storage) for various boxes [Gandalf is soon to be spare parts but not nice to reuse]....

This sucker is going to be Vista 64bit unfortunately, so I was thinking about "Puck" - I will argue that it's from Shakespeare (goblin sort of thing) but I love the dual nature of screaming it's name with venom on the first part... somehow fits a windoze vista machine - not that I am been pessimistic about it :-).

My old computer was names Spiffy. The new one is SpiffyX2, since it is running on an Athlon X2, Not that that helps you much.

I had a partition naming theme at one time. The first drive was a Maxtor, so I named it "Max". Next one was "99", then "Chief" and "Kaos". You get the idea.

haha that was my ex's nickname, such a source of humor.

Xavier Herberticus?

I name everything of mine...alphabetically. Cellphone is Albert, 2GB USB is Bertha, computer is Claire (with external drive Clarence and partition Clarence Jr.), camera is Don Quixote, 512 MB USB is Eugene, kit lens is Frederick....I don't remember what's named Gertrude, but something is...tripod's name is Hubert. And that's as far as I've gotten.

We have something like 6 PCs on our home network, and I gave them all names from The Simpsons :)

My first computer was Harv (an atari 130XE), my next one was Stan (my first MS-Dos machine), then I had Marvin (win 95) and currently it is Drew (my desk top) and Harold (my laptop). I kind of wish I had saved Marvin for my lap top Marvin was really more of a Claude.

All mine have been named Natasha. I'm on Natasha IX now. My wife named Natasha I, because back in those days she said I spent more time with it. (Was a BBS in Fido-Net eons ago.)

My favorite name I gave a computer was "Erebus" The dark place in hell all souls must pass through. Not how I explained it to the boss though.
02/26/2009 07:16:47 PM · #22
Come on Tone, give the full list
Erebus is part of Hades Net....another parts of the net are Archeron. I forget the list that they :Read tony and his group) came up with.

My computers are currently not named, but when i get the netwrok set up, they will be.

Vista's Development codename was 'Longhorn' which might work, or better yet, 'Bull' so that it fits when you yell 'Bull Sh*t" every time Vista deceides to do something you didn't want it to do............
