That's what I thought initially.
Other than your physical you, what else defines you? If you're adventurous then probably something actiony? If you're academic, then something booky?
I've got a good idea, I just hope it translates into a pic. |

But this is one of those where you really can shoot anything that conveys a personal detail about ANYONE -- because who knows if it's about you or not?

I'd be careful. Although I am new to the board there seems to be a lot of people on here that have said that for other challenges and get burned in the voting. There are a lot of people on here that will vote down if they think for a second that you treated it that way. |

I'm kind of confused because the title doesn't seem to fit with the description. It was without people in the title, but the description says not to include yourself. I have a fun idea, but it would include people other than me. I assume I get severely marked down on it... |

The title, and the description give me different ideas. The title says without people. The challenge description says without yourself.
Was thinking of taking a picture of my son, as Me 2.0. But the challenge title will probably be all that many ever see. So, likely not a world beater. |

I'm seeing a whole crowd all wearing Wendy masks!!!
Although the title and description have a disconnect, because it's a self-portrait I took the 'without people' to mean 'without the subject'. I shall be taking a picture of 'something' that describes some/all of my characteristics.

I'm taking it as conveying something about your personality. Time to go prop shopping for a bag of nuts and some loose screws. |

I'm seeing a stick model made out of shoe-horns. |

I'm wondering if the person from SC that wrote this may have actually meant it differently and that the titile should have read "Self portrait without self" but who knows? :)
Regardsless, the challenge is what it is now and I'm guessing that any sign of one or more persons even if it's not you, could get voted down heavily. I looks like fun actually so maybe the SC did it exactly as they meant it. |

I predict the twin sisters (I'm sorry, but I forget their usernames) submitting photos of each other. |

Agreed. To me, this challenge is all about props, suggestion and inference, rather than an obvious 'portrait', such as a reflection or shadow shot which doesn't imply a personality or 'essence'.

Yup. That's them. Thank you. I got a kick when they each entered the a photo of their sister as a "self portrait" in the DNMC challenge. (That was a fun one.) |

I can see this blurs the object of entry anonymity during voting, which of course happens during all self portraits type challenges, but I can also foresee a secondary game developing during voting and commenting involving identity guessing in comments. Wish we had some way of scoring the accuracy of the guesses. |

I saw this challenge and I thought it should have been called the Bear Music challenge. A good example of what to strive for I think. |

This sounds quite fun though I can see DMNC votes being handed out like candy because the voter can't validate your shot and lots of what's the point, this is just a free study comments .... or maybe my glass is just half empty, lol!! |

I see it like this, if you're a cop, doctor, computer geek, etc. Then take a shot representing that. Or a hobby. If you like to fish, geocache, play softball, fly kites, etc. Take a picture that represents some aspect of your hobby. Just don't have anyone in it. Don't just make something up. Take something that actually gives some sort of hint at who you are. Pretty simple really. |

Except of course no one will know you made it up during voting. |
