Wow very nice -5 from someone there, must have voted with your eyes closed the first time round? ;)

The topic we were discussing was to do with the idea that in one challenge, some are at 154 votes or less, while others are up near 180 votes in the same challenge, at the same time. It was an observation about how some shots are getting more votes than others and how it's likely due to thumbnail voting which tends to negate the random page idea. Nothing was talking about scores. It was an observation in the voting number differences. :)

Mmmm......okay.....

I thought we had also digressed into why there seem to be views without votes as well.

That's always been a mystery to me.

If you're gonna look ai it, why not vote?

I don't understand the concept of thumbnail voting either......don't you have to actually open the image to cast a vote????

Or are you just talking about choosing to open/not open the image from a thumbnail point of view?

Yeah, Jeb....I agree that there are a lot of views without votes but, perhaps that's due to people going through all of the images first, just to see what all of the shots are??? I'm not sure either. I know that with myself, when a challenge first starts, I'll sometimes start at the first thumbnail shot, opening it, then hitting the arrow button right through all of the entries to see what the entries all are if I don't have time to properly vote (I won't just vote willy-nilly...I want time to look at each photo well) at that time. I'll then, go back, when I'm ready to vote and will start at number one on my page and keep using in voting mode until I'm done voting. Even if I can't do it all in one sitting (ie: Free Studies with 300 or more entries), I'll come back to the first thumbnail and go again in the same fashion. So, it's likely that the difference in views from votes are that people skim through all of the shots or, perhaps, the more interesting ones first, without voting at that moment. So, that's not what I'm confused over. :)

What I was asking for opinions on was the difference between the number of votes being so different. For example, some of us are sitting at the 155 mark while others are well up there in the 180 vote mark at the same point in time. That seems to be saying that voting does seem to be following something along the lines of what Sempermarine was saying, ie: going through thumbnails and opening and voting on what catches their eye in a good or a bad way and voting on those??? I don't really know.

But, I totally agree with you in saying that if you're going to open a thumbnail, why not vote on it since it takes the same amount of time and energy to hit a number as it does to hit either the arrow button to the next shot or, to hit the back button to go back to the thumbnails.

Now, Lonni for instance is sitting at 201 votes and likely more by now, while I'm sitting at 175 votes and Ja-9 at the 173 mark or so. That's a HUGE difference in the number of votes. Why???? That's my question. :)

Wow! Hammered down 0.10 points in the last 8 hours. That's impressive with 200 votes logged. What's up with that.

Yeah, I was the same. Can't complain about my score, but it seems it was consistent!
