thanks to everyone who answered my earlier question concerning adding an external flash to my Olympus 4000C....unfortunately, the camera does not have a hot-shoe and it has an Olympus only 5-pin connector. I liked the Olympus brand flash, the bracket, and the special cord, but I didn't like the $200 plus price tag that came with it! So, I ordered the Vivitar Digital camera flash DF200 this morning. It may not be the perfect answer, but I believe it will improve my indoor photos...especially those of family & friends in bad or lower light situations. Here is a link to the flash (DF 200)if anyone is interested and faces the same kind of problems with their camera as I did: [thumb]//www.vivitar.com/Products/Flashes/flash.html#DF200[/thumb]

You can just buy the adapter for the stupid olympus connector and add your own flash. Slaves worked really well for my Oly C3000. However, for my Oly C5050, I've had mixed results with slaves. I'm not sure how it is for your camera, but my C5050 in full manual mode only has slow flash, which seems pretty stupid and I'm not sure why. With my silly little cheap slave I got at Ritz for 20 bucks, it works. For the monolights that I borrowed, the slave function did not work well at all. The slow mode made the flash fire late, which triggered the slave even later, and they were not sync'ed with the shutter. I could only get it to fire with the camera in program mode, which meant everything was overexposed way way way too much. Hopefully it works out for you. But just wanted to leave you a little word of warning. Best of Luck to you and happy new year to everyone.

Bob
