Still wondering how some are at 175 or so votes and some are way behind that number? :(
Anyone got any ideas as to why this happens? That's quite a difference. :-\ |

It's really hard to say, but I may be attracting more voters based on the thumb. I have nearly 50 more views. My guess is that the thumb makes them curious and since they are there they vote. |

Or, perhaps some people would rather pass on an image than give it a 4 or less...? |

That's a good possibility and a good explaination! It might then, also explain why Ja-9 feels that her shots are always last on random pages. It would simply be voters are going through thumbs and voting in that manner, rather than in sequence. But, if that's the case then, that kind of negates or defeats the effect/purpose of having the "random pages" to try to equalize the fairness of the voting sequences, then, doesn't it? :( *sigh*

That could be another explanation but, I kinda doubt that's the case as it seems (from many thread discussions) that voters don't seem to have much of a quabble with giving out lower scores if they feel it's what fits for various and personal reasons...so, not sure that would really be quite as plausible as the thumbnail explanation??? |

Sigh!

Uhhhh.......if I knew the answer, I wouldn't have asked the question. I would have simply stated what I thought instead.
And, here we go with what?
Pass me some popcorn too, will you please? :) I'm almost done my day so, that looks good! |

I just think some shot have more thumb appeal than others. I often open a thumb and feel disappointed when I see it full size and the reverse occurs as well. The lesson learned here is to open all the thumbs and give them the justice they deserve. |

I totally agree with opening all thumbs and voting in order because, as you've experienced, I've often found disappointment once open and vice-versa as well. It is fair that way. There are some that I would have missed that were fabulous had I not gone in sequence! I would have kicked myself had I found them after voting. :) Makes perfect sense! |

It has always seemed to me that I get 3 views to 2 votes......and that doesn't seem to be score-related.
My only 7+ got 126 votes and 328 views....what does THAT say?????

I open the first thumbnail and vote on the picture, and the browser immediately takes me to the next big picture to vote on. I rarely see thumbnails.

I don't know what it says, Jeb. Maybe, it says that I need a spreadsheet?! LOL ;-))
The 126 votes and 328 views on the 7+ score don't really say anything to me at this moment without something to reference it to.
The topic we were discussing was to do with the idea that in one challenge, some are at 154 votes or less, while others are up near 180 votes in the same challenge, at the same time. It was an observation about how some shots are getting more votes than others and how it's likely due to thumbnail voting which tends to negate the random page idea. Nothing was talking about scores. It was an observation in the voting number differences. :)

Mmmm......okay.....
I thought we had also digressed into why there seem to be views without votes as well.
That's always been a mystery to me.
If you're gonna look ai it, why not vote?
I don't understand the concept of thumbnail voting either......don't you have to actually open the image to cast a vote????
Or are you just talking about choosing to open/not open the image from a thumbnail point of view?
