Millionaire City boss tells staff to eat two-day-old burgers... to remind them how lucky they are to still have jobs

That's sorta of an unconventional way of teaching your staff a lesson. It doesn't actually specify whether or not they actually ate the burgers or not. Besides what could the boss do to them if they had refused to eat them?

I don't understand what kind of a point it was supposed to make. I'm sure there was some connection in his mind that made perfect sense as a lesson.

I read some of the comments below, and a lot of people were agreeing with his punishment. What would've happened if his employees got food poisoning or something? I don't think he really thought this through.

Sure there's a connection, at least in his mind. He wanted his staff to come face-to-face with the reality that there's a whole HECK of a lot of people barely getting by, or not getting by at all, and that they (his staff) had better re-examine their sense of entitlement before they, too, had to live "like this". Or something of that ilk. I imagine if he thought he coudl get away with it he'd have rented a gymnasium for the night, set it up as a homeless shelter/soup kitchen, and had his "motivational meeting" there, and forced his staff to spend the night.

I think it's BS, of course, but I can see how he might delude himself into thinking this is a valid rationale for doing soemthign like that.

I noticed the Millionaire didn't eat one of his own burgers either. So much for leading by example, huh??

yeah he would've probably gained some merit if he had actually ate one before he asked his employees to

I agree. There is no shortage of hypocrite bosses around the world.

It is very easy to command one's authority.. but equally hard to set examples.

Stupid managers!

He would have gained substantially more merit had he spent a few of his million on buying a homeless shelter a few hundred burgers.

His actions further explains the old saying:

Great leaders lead. The inept dictate.
(or something to that effect!)
