I just received a postcard in the mail today from Adobe and they are offering an upgrade from Elements to CS4 for $299.00. I've been happy with Elements 6 but I have to admit I'm wondering what I'm missing out on. Any input would be appreciated. Just another thought, should I just forget about it and save the $$$ for the 100mm macro lens?

Thanks a bunch.

Without a doubt I would upgrade.

For that price you should probably upgrade -- Curves, Shadows/Highlights, and improved Layers are likely worth it. Maybe you can download the demo version or try it out at a store first, if you don't have to decide tonight.

I almost want to say don't upgrade because once you do, there is no going back.
I looked at Elements the other day and it frustrated me no end because it is so different to PS.

I would cry myself to sleep every night if I had to go back to Elements ;-)

So....... ignorance is bliss, they say, right? If you're happy, perhaps you should stay with it.
I couldn't.

I received the same postcard yesterday, and last night I bought CS4. No doubt.

So....CS4 will run faster than Elements?

It works pretty darn fast on my new computer - faster than most elements functions.

I used a similar offer a year ago to go from Elements to CS3. There is definitely a learning curve, but it's worth it if you take the time.

If all you do is use the "auto" features in elements, it may not be worth it, but if you spend some time on your photos, the extra capabilities are great.

there are quite a few things that goes on when it comes to how fast the software works, but since CS4 uses GPU to accelerate the computation, it will be faster for most stuff on a capable pc/laptop.

In my experience, CS4 runs faster on macbook pro ( with nvidia gpu) as compared to CS3 on my windows machine. Both systems had 2GB RAM.

I couldn't believe the difference between CS4 and CS3 on my MacBook Pro.

Everything runs so smooth and fast. I was skeptical at the speed difference before I tried it and I was pleasantly surprised.
