Good afternoon (or insert your own time) folks!
I sure am glad I stumbled upon this site (thank you Google) for amateur photographers. I have read the rules of engagement -so to speak- and found them very fair so I look forward to contributing to the mayhem whenever possible.
One quick question if I may;
I see where there is a place for photos in our profiles. Is this exclusively for shots taken for this site or can we place some earlier favorites for show-n-tell?

Hello Randy, and welcome to DPC.
Registered users don't get portfolio space, but full members can upload whatever they like.
The only photos that must be taken within certain dates are the ones for the challenges.

Welcome to DPC Randy!
In order to have a portfolio and upload non-challenge photos you need to become a paying member.
BTW, this place isn't just for amateur photographers. There are a lot of pros here too.

Do bear in mind that although you can upload whatever images you like to your portfolio, they all have to comply with the terms of use of the site, which means basically that lewd images are unacceptable. Hopefully you're not inclined to upload this sort of thing, so it won't be an issue with you. Welcome aboard!

Welcome to the asylum, Randy :)
Believe me, this is one site that is WELL worth the cost of membership. Besides the portfolio space you also get unlimited access to the update button which, for most who enter challenges regularly, is the most used feature of the site, I think. (in other words, it's bleepin' addictive!) |

OK, ya'll talked me into it. I just became a paid member. (not that it took THAT much to sway me...)

It may be a while before I get around to doing any new photography though. I REALLY hate cold weather. As soon as we start seeing warmer temps here, I'll get out and about and hopefully I can jump into a challenge at that time!
