Can you please tell me a program that can help me to achieve this? Or a way to do this?

I have an old laptop that I want to divide the HD to run XP in one side and Linux Puppy in the other.

Plesa any help would be appreciated.

Another vote for partition magic.

Even if you don't get any new software to handle this I think Windows XP has the capability of dealing with more than one OS.

If you want to repartition it while preserving the previously installed OS, then you do need something like partition magic. If you are starting fresh, you can partition at installation time.

another vote for Partition Magic.
i did exactly this a couple years back.

(if you have XP already installed) first you need to resize the 'C' partition. to make it smaller.
with the new empty space on your drive you need to make the 2 partitions (Linux ext3 and a Linux swap) you need for the Linux.
when you do the Linux install it will ask you what partitions you want to use, select the these new 2.

you will then be asked to install a LILO or similar.
this will be what you see each time you reboot the laptop.
it will ask you to select which OS you want to boot up with.

also you need to be aware that Linux can not read from a NTFS formatted partition.
so you if you want you use files (images, music etc) between the 2 systems you will need a another partition formatted to FAT32. Copy all your 'My Documents' into this partition and then XP and Linux will have access to them!

Lastly, BACK UP BACK UP everything before starting any of this!!
