I've had one in screening since Tuesday night.

I guess that's OK seeing as I thought it was going to get canned inside of an hour.

I've seen several come and go in screening since I submitted. The last one of mine that got published was in screening for almost 4 days. I wonder why some take longer than others to get through the process.

Update: Just got published! ;-)

A 20 year old Kodachrome 25 slide. Highest ever for me on the screening popularity meter, almost 90%.

I thought this would have been rejected outright

Nice!

I'm getting a mambo huge response to my Immaterial shot. I'm really happy about it and now I'm wondering how it would have done here in a Free Study?

It would probably get ripped to shreds but may have been worth a try.

I would have voted it a 9 or a 10 :)

Got another one rejected and another one published (my first color photo there).

Just as a matter of curiousity, is anyone (not necessarily DPCers) having success at 1x with pinhole photography, film or digital? Deb, I know one of you pinhole shots was rejected, but I think the fact that it was pinhole had little to do with it (although I think you did call that out in your photo title).

I got my first one published here

I know it's not B&W which is why I was a bit surprised for it to get published. I got a comment saying:

Very sweet and well taken. Congratulations for getting your shot published and may you publish many more.
But, sorry to say this, is it really a 1X shot?
Now I'm seriously confused

I am 1/3 so far - we'll see what happens next week!

Congrats! I saw it in screening. Voted to publish, but I too didn't think it would get through. Good to see some colorful positive images there once in a while!

Imo it's not fair to say that positive or colorful images can't make it on 1x. I have 42 pictures published - most of them in color and most of them positive (or at least not "dark")

And I'm not the only one on 1x with a colorful collection...

By the way:

Look at the frontpage right now - it's mainly color :-)

Ya, but you're good... ;)

Seriously though, do note that 6 of your last 8 accepted photos were B&W and that although I can't tell the date of when your photos were accepted, the 3rd row in your portfolio (where it starts to get colorful) has a photo ID# of half the current number. I'm guessing it's entirely possible 1x has changed over time as they settle into their niche...

That's not to say color can't work there, but it's obviously a minority to the unbiased eye.

Thanks ;)

I do agree that 1x has changed over time, but all websites do (including DPC) - and I'm pretty sure that some of my published pictures on 1x wouldn't stand a chance today. But that's OK by me... I'm sure that a lot of the older ribbon winning pictures here wouldn't win today either. It's called evolution :)

I didn't say that. Heck, I just got a color shot of a kitten published. Just saying that the sunset motif isn't very popular there and it was nice to see that 1x can break out of the expected on occasion.

This one was just rejected

worth a try! ;-)

Come on man do we really need to see that in the 950x950 dimensions they use over there? :P

Just thought I'd join in the fun.

Rejected with the screener progress bar thingy at about 20%, whatever that means. No comments.

The screeners didn't think so either.

All the published monkey penis shots I've seen at 1x are in B&W. Should have gone with that...
02/13/2009 06:25:43 PM · #645

I am now 4 for 4 rejected. I guess that I have nothing they are interested in. I may give up now. This last one took just an hour from upload to rejection.
02/13/2009 09:11:37 PM · #646
2 more rejected today for a total of 9 rejects, 0 accepts. I did request some critique there, so will see what I might learn from that... :-)

Dave-Re-submit. Selective Desat....up the reds...heavy vignetting to the nose. What's not to love?

After the first page of entry's at 1x, page 2 and beyond. I click on a image to view when I'm done I press the back button to return the page. I get this message.

"Confirm Form Resubmission
This web page requires data that you entered earlier in order to be properly displayed. You can send this data again, but by doing so you will repeat any action this page previously performed. Press Reload to resend that data and display this page."

Page 2- click and look at photo- back button- refresh- back to page 2.
What a pain in the (i)

Figured it out it was Google Chrome..
