You are probably doing like me. I had a string of high scoring entries that made me think I had really bumped it up a notch and now I am back to reality. |

Was it crap?
Mine's briliant and I'm scoring 5.4. I'm also drunk and I dont care. 5.4? Below average? It's in focus and everything!! I'ts also got a lot o apples in it.

mmm! I like cryptic clues....I'm going back for another look at the challenge images. Hehehe! ...and we'll see if I'm any good at guessing which one is yours...after the challenge. I think I need more clues though... now... was she cut, withered, covered with dew, alone or hanging out with mates, or did she just get a brilliant shot with lighting that she liked? :P |

You and I might be right mikeee....it might just be crap but 118 other voters, so far, tend to disagree. I have no bones with people scoring my work as they see it, but a reason for giving a 1 (or 2 for that matter) should be a mandatory inclusion for voters otherwise how else are we meant to learn what is good, or what is crap? On the other hand, if people are just voting low to boost their own scores, or just being dicks, then they may be deterred if the onus is put upon them to justify the reason why.
Have a good sleep and hopefully better scores will ease your hangover in the morning.

If your are sad like many of us on here and monitor your score you can calculate what your last vote was.
For example:
if you are on 5.3125 after 50 votes and then you get one more vote that puts you on 5.3064 for 51 votes, your last vote is:
Last Vote = (51*5.3064)-(50*5.3125)
In this case this equals 5
If there has been more than one vote since you last looked simply divide the answer by the number of new votes to get the average of the votes you just received.
I have a spreadsheet I use but I believe there is a good one that can be downloaded and I'm sure someone will post a link for you

I'm not doing you a favor by posting this, but here's the one I use. Hawkeyelonewolf's excel spreadsheet
It will suck you in. You'll break your finger hitting the update button every 20 seconds. "is there another vote? cool! what!? a 1? is everyone getting them?"

Or... you could leave scores off most of the time and just check it on occasion. Just a thought.
I'm half tempted to DQ mine just to save you guys the agony of voting on it. Apparently it's very agonizing. |

Mine had the best start I had ever seen, and then after the viewers saw all the other amazing entries, they thought it was just average, sigh (except for that one favorite, yes!)...

| I thought I did some darn good lighting and it would have pulled in a mid 5, but apparently, I screwed something up big time, because I'm still in the 4.8 to 4.9 range. |
