Where's the deal in this? This only benefits a new consumer. Most people already have the lenses listed and a speedlite. I think it's a crappy offer from Canon.

What, Canon should give you $200 because you bought something a year ago? Get real!
And what makes you think most people already have all that equipment? You don't.

You make no sense. What did I buy a year ago that I'm expecting $200 for? Nothing. Also if I want one of the lenses listed that I don't have, I'm damn sure not gonna buy a new camera or a Speedlite just so I can get a lousy $200. By the same token if I want a new camera body listed I'm damn sure not gonna buy a lens or a Speedlite to get a lousy $200. I'm really not gonna buy a camera and lens to get $200 off a Speedlite. IMO it's still a crappy deal that only benefits a person wanting to upgrade. I like the other rebates where items are rebated separately not in a package.

Canon is not required to offer any rebates. Just because the rebates currently offered won't help you doesn't mean they won't help someone else. Look at it this way--if you were in the market for new Canon gear, would you be whining about the $200 rebate?

| I *am* in the market for a new camera, but I already have the lenses and speedlight. I think that's what NstiG8tr means. It's kind of lousy that you have to buy all of that stuff to get any kind of rebate. Shoot. :| |

First of all I'm not whining. I stated my thoughts on the rebates. Secondly, to answer your question, yes I would be complaining because of all the things listed I'm only interested in a new 5D. Why should I be forced to buy something else I don't need or want to get a deal? Maybe you don't read so well but I did acknowledged the fact that the rebates would help somebody else.
Hell maybe I should just sell my crap and switch to Nikon. They don't seem to have to offer rebates to get people to buy their stuff. They just lower the price so everybody benefits from the savings.
