Using TinEye I came up with 13 hits on my ribbon winning photo Rainy Daisy Days

What really has me concerned and in some instances ticked off is that 1)most of these sites are in Arabic and I don't know what is being said paired with my photo 2)some of these rippers are blatantly 'manipulating' my work to create banners and such.

Banner one Ripped image 1
from Website location

Manipulated to a watercolor image

Another manip which has the audacity to paste a "Designed by" label on it
//i294.photobucket.com/albums/mm89/shurooqi-1986/signature2008/650fffc1.gif
on this site //asdaffsun.com/vb/showthread.php?s=e3ea7a4626396c6bb1ce620ca21f400f&p=29829 Which TinEye states is there but cannot find it

Oh, and btw I see that someone there ripped Judi's work and has the same crap label "Designed by WARD" over it too...look 2/3 of the way down.
I will note here about this.

Picture with arabic words plastered over image Ripped work 2. It is about halfway down the page

Can someone help 1) translate what is paired with my photo...2)Offer trusted assistance with how or who to compose a cease and desist letter

We WARDS can't be trusted, that's for sure...

Heh, Bear I trust you:-) You would never deface someone's work. But if you have any black sheep WARDs in the fold ya better inform them to cease and desist;-)

I don't suppose you might know someone trustworthy who can translate the language without having a translation gaffe like the Welsh translation of "Cyclists: Danger Road Work Ahead to "Cyclists: Bladder Disease has returned".

Bah... only 13 hits? This one rings up 187 hits, many of them in Arabic, Russian and other alien languages. Where would I even start? :-/

Gak! Sorry to hear that Shannon. That is something I (perhaps futile) hope to stop before it spreads....one person comes along and manips the work then several others feed off that one. Again I realize it may be futile but I DO wish to know what the heck is being plastered over my work!

I speak some Arabic...

I think it says..."Screw the photographer. He will never catch me ! Bahh ha ha haaaa...

No translation necessary- they ALL say that. We had a Brazilian au pair at the time, and a friend of hers in Sao Paulo recognized my daughter in an email she got from an Israeli site two weeks after the challenge ended and forwarded it back to us.

google translator

I found this page to leave comments. Write your message in english, have google translate to arabic, and paste it there for starters. I am still looking for any other "contact us" type links with the translator.

Hope that helps!

Ã¥ÃÃ¥ ÃáÃæà ÃáãÃÃæÃà ãä ÃáãÃÃà ÃÃæà ÃáÃÃà æÃáäÃÃ.
íÃà Ãáíà ÃÃÃáÃåà ÃæÃÃ

this translates to:

these are stolen images from a copyrighted source. you must remove them immediately

well, it would if DPC could post arabic characters!

I know a guy who is an Army Translator fluent in Arabic as well as about 5 other languages, He is currently stationed in Afganastan and hard to reach, But I am going to email him the links from this thread and ask. He should be willing to invest a few minutes of his time to translate. I took his two sons ice fishing a couple of weeks ago, Sat out on the lake and froze my butt off, But I figured it was the least I could do when I know where their dad is sitting, plus that they are good kids and their mom needed a little break.

I will let you guys know if he replies, Sometimes if Security is tight they are not allowed to communicate with the civilian world. So it could be a day or a month before i hear back from him.

The page that has Judi's photo on it is a forum of some sort and they are talking about cooking originally (top post has a recipe) then about prisoners then God. The text directly below her picture says "God does not Ihrmeni you Iaomiratna" is the best translation I can get at the moment.

The graphics are harder to translate since the text is not copyable and I do not have a lex for Arabic.

What I find interesting is this notice on the other page linked to:

"What you analyze anyone that steals designs or ideas of the Forum
Even the name of the Forum and the decoration and the names of the sections is forbidden
Because all I'm editor of my movable LE"

Not the best translation, but I take it to mean that you cannot steal his/her graphics or ideas or content in any form since they own it.

The website page link (second link you posted) is an FAQ page for the forum.

Here's a site that has a great deal of info on the ins and outs of getting your content removed from sites.

Plagiarism Today

Also, I'm looking at working with this company to help police our written content for my "day job." THey track photos and videos in adition to written content. Hypothetically, you may even be able to license some of your work using their tools. :)

Thankyou for bringing this to my attention. I can't seem to locate the image though as the first two links in your opening post keep giving me a Page Load Error.

Thanks Chris for the link to the Google Translation of that particular page....still seems that some things are lost or not fully translated. And what I have quoted from your help, if the webhost/master is claiming that it seems that they are then claiming the work as their own...which of course the one work that is mine in definately not their's nor is permission give to 'alter' it.

Thanks Josh, it does help some but in some cases I wonder if Google translates it correctly. As I mentioned in my earlier post to Bear that there was a news article some time ago that there was a mistranslation of Welsh at a road construction site - it was to notify cyclists to be careful of the road construction but it left them confused because it was supposed to say "Cyclists: Danger Road Work Ahead but it read instead "Cyclists: Bladder Disease has returned":-).

Understood. Thanks for the assistance and any help in clarification of wording that is plastered on the work...although I hope to have them remove it by then.

The "AHLAMONTADA.COM" site is hosted in the UK by a company called Ovh LTD. The UK is party to the Berne Convention, which basically means that the UK agrees to honor your country's copyright laws for your works (in this case US Copyright law). Send a DMCA takedown notice to their abuse mailbox: abuse@ovh.net. The translation from American to the Queen's English shouldn't be too hard ;)

If they refuse, they no longer are privvy to "safe harbor," which means that THEY (the hosting company) can be sued for the violation.

Sample letter

Thank you very much for that information Chip...I have utilized the whois.com website to track down the web hosts of several offenders.

I have composed several letters that are on the ready to be sent out - but I have one question with the sample letter you provided.

In the body of the letter:

DMCA Notice of Copyright Infringement
re:

Does the re: refer to the infringed material or does one put their copyrighted material in there to notify the company of the original work being infringed?

I would put the infringing link/information there. Once they get into the full body of the letter, you're providing a link to your evidence that the item is yours. (Or an attachment).

Let us know how it turns out :)
