Hat's off to you Tate ( metatate). I figured this image was good for 8+ and a spot on the highest ratest photo's listing of DPChallenge. The message was simple, strong, and universally acceptable.
I certainly hope you do share this image in many places and many venues to receive the accolades this image justly deserves.

I'm also surprised it didn't do better. It seemed like it had everything going for it.

When I first saw this photo in the challenge I immediately saw this as the type of photo that could be used for communicating a strong message about our environment, pollution, oil dependency, etc...
It's the kind of photo you could see on the cover of Time, Newsweek, even National Geographic. Organizations like Greenpeace perhaps picking it up for an ad campaign.
Very powerful IMO. That's why I wanted to highlight it in a seperate thread. It's not about an image that didn't win or an underrated challenge entry, etc... (although I thought it would grab a ribbon). |

Wow! Thanks so much. This thread literally brought tears to my sensitive eyes. As I mention in the description, I have been shooting this stuff on occasion for years and finally submitted an image after John (justamistere[/user) was there to lend an appendage.
I am chairing a green committee at work which was a long time coming in my mind but now is a trend that I hope to continue. The challenges faced by this committee are really opening my eyes to the difficulties we face in sustainability.
Again - thanks so much for the recognition of this image. glad2badad you truly made my day with that and per your suggestion, I may pursue further use of this.

You're welcome! :-) I hope you'll let us know how it ends up being used in the future? |

I'm also on the Green committe, here. I play skeptic, intentionally. This photo does seem to portray some powerful meanings.
Optimistic View:
Maybe even in the black fossil fuel, we can see a "rainbow" of hope ahead, if we all give it a helping hand.
Yes, in this country we've been brought up to be wasteful in our habits (including me) and disrepectfully polluting our environment. I'm learning and turning greener.
Maybe if the people are all for a greener country, the politicians and industry will follow. And even participate against Global Warming.

First, Congratulations, Tate. Iâve got to hand it to you, you did the right thing.
Letâs all give him a big hand. I already did.
I got my inspiration from reading Dr Seussâs âThing One and Thing Twoâ and of course, âThe Addams Familyâ, and M.C Escherâs hand drawing a hand.
Hi, Iâm always happy to lend a hand.
Behind that hand is a brain of creative projects waiting to be unleashed.
Looking for other collaborative work.
