Bah!! Picked the wrong free study entry!!! I hate it when I do that....
Sorry, just realized I had a shot I forgot about until 5 minutes ago and it would have been near perfect!

Well I had not entered any thing for awhile and thought I had a good idea for Grey. Looking at the scores it must have been just in my head that the idea was good.

Thanks, guys! And I know I owe comments. Been busy around here both at work and at home. I've been shooting stuff at work on request in horrible lighting situations with really nasty backgrounds - then coming home and trying to make something useful out of them for the individuals involved. Have another "Deployment Awards" ceremony to do tomorrow. The civilians that work in my organization volunteer to serve downrange - and the US government has decided that civilians can get the same basic award for deploying that the military gets. So these guys are getting them and we have ceremonies to award them. I've volunteered to take pictures, which I then send to the folks who get the awards. It's not great photography, but it sure is nice to do!
I am rather proud of my tree, even if it turned out to be DPC friendly. I really do love the way the trees stand watch in the fields here. I have my favorites, even. And one or two I check every time I drive by because a hawk likes to hang out on top of them. I'm also very proud of my outtake, for which I received The Order of the Thumb from  ubique.
Oh, and tonight I completely disassembled a DVD player because it croaked last week and refused to give back my Simon and Garfunkel CD. Bought a new DVD player to replace it and got that all nicely hooked up. Those things are incredibly cheap these days. Nice when you need to replace one, but I get the feeling they're only built to last for a year (or less) then they become yet another thing to add to the trash pile. :-(

This is a monumental occasion for Team Suck. One of our own was chosen as all around favorite DPC photographer. To quote Bear_Music:
And now, for the moment you've all been waiting for: the best photographer in DPC, based on number of images nominated, is none other than the wonderful Melethia, who had 3 separate images nominated as best of 2008. And one of those was only 1 place removed from a brown ribbon :-)

I suggest you all go take a look at the Team Suck trees if you haven't already. It really is a rather lovely collection!
Edit to add I've just submitted to one of the open challenges and I can guarantee, without a shadow of a doubt, that I will not ribbon with it. :-)

Okay - trying to get back into the swing of the picture-taking thing.
Got a "Grey" in, coming in at the mid-4's. It's pretty horrible, but it was a last minute entry and I expected nothing more.
I have a couple more in the line up - one for "Begin" and one for "Brown Ribbon" - neither will likely break 5.0, but that's okay.

Well, guys....wish me luck, pray for me, keep your fingers crossed, sacrifice a chicken......sandwich.....
This is the lobby of a hotel going up near where I work. You can see the guys there in front, and the wall above is where the owner wants to put four 8' x 12' images.
That's him in the lower left corner.......with a sample disc of images of mine to choose from.
He's......a character, that's for sure, so I won't believe it 'til I have a check in my hand and the printer is cranking them out.
I'd consider this a pretty serious thing if it comes through.
