My camera do not have the extensibility of many metering modes. I can either use the on/off setting of spot metering mode. When i use the off setting of this spot metering mode, my phots are getting so out of focussed..

Can anyone tell me what exactly this spot metering mode is?

Thanks in advance!

Are you sure your not turning spot-focussing mode off? My camera has choices of spot or other types of autofocus, and depending on what type of shot I'm taking I need it on spot-metering or other types for different things. First make sure this isn't what your turning on and off, since it is a common feature on Olympus cams.

Spot metering is for measuring light intensity. Instead of giving a general metering of the entire image, it gives the reading for a spot, generally the spot contained in the brackets, hole whatever at the center of your shot! It shouldn't have anything to do with focus at all!
