First, I'm gonna pat myself on the back, cause I just got another person from a different country hitting my website according to google analytics. This puts me at 20 counties, visitors from Africa, Australia, Europe, Asia and N. and S. America- and 350 different cities! Just so cool to look at!
Wondering how many of you all use google analytics for your sites as well? Particularly looking for someone who has a flash based site, and their dynamic content all loaded into analytics as well... I am trying to figure out how to do it, but just have a couple quick questions- if anyone has a few minutes and knows about doing this, I'd love to chat with ya via email. Let me know! |

I use it all the time. I love seeing where people are looking from, what country, if they are new, who referred them and so on. I have a flash site |

Use it all the time also but as nice as flash can be, its tricky to use in a way that will not kill you on Google being able to see your site properly and building a good presents on the web. Still much more effective to keep it simple and limit the flash. |

I have Google analytics blocked with NoScript. I flit from website to website stealthily, like a ninja in the night. A ninja who has just kicked over the trashcan and now has the undivided attention of the guard dogs. |

For anyone concerned with privacy, add an entry to your hosts file pointing that domain at your loopback address.
You'll find the file (in windows) here:- c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
Add the line
127.0.0.1 www.google-analytics.com
Voila, Yospiff style Ninja surfing!

To take this idea to the next level, use a custom hosts file and you will never be bothered by doubleclick again. That block of doubleclick will also keep paypal from working. Paypal routes traffic through doubleclick, believe it or not. |

I had a similar experience the other night when I saw a visitor from Moscow on my site. Being a child of the cold war and a navy veteran I still remember not too long ago when transfer of information to Russia was treasonous and we did everything we could to lock them out.
Check out Woopra too. It provides real-time monitoring of who's on your site. Except for some of the more advanced functionality of Google Analytics, like Advanced Segments, it pretty much provides the same information. It even allows you to chat with your current visitors if you like. |

If you have sensitive government secrets or other classified information on your PC, then you have serious problems. A few Muscovites browsing your photos should be the least of your worries. :D
