Might as well just start this in rant...
Interested in others opinions on the "stimulus package". Have you looked at what is in it? Do you think it will help? Do you think this is a good idea?
My $.02...
Bush proved tax credits don't work, why bother again? I guess since this time illegal immigrants can get the checks it may work?
A lot of the crap in there is just crap and stimulates no job growth. STD education? Arts funding?
The infastructure stuff (briges, roads...) is probably a good thing that is needed, but they are too far in the future to help now (hopefully this is done in a year or two!).
Also, ironic that the people that complain that tax cuts bankrupt our children's future have no problem throwing a trillion dollars we don't have at their pet projects.
I agree we need to do something, but I don't think this is it. Furthermore, the pressure they are applying: "if we don't pass this right now we'll all die!!!!" is a huge red flag. It says to me "we don't want to give you time to read this or think about it, just vote yes."
And shame on the dems for creating this in a vacuum and only giving a token listening to the repubs thoughts. Yeah, the repubs have done this in the past, they sucked too. This is suppose to be the administration that crosses party lines and works together. I'd like to see that.
Other thoughts for or against?
