From Tech news site ARS Technica comes a caution for those on a budget that may decide this is ok:

Mac trojan variant now riding along with pirated Photoshop

Also, an "I told you so" for those who have thought the Mac was immune to such things.

?!?! This would amount the the user willfully installing malware (and getting what they deserve). No computer is immune to that.

Agreed. But many Mac users have the false impression that the Mac is immune to malware. The Mac OS OS is inherently more secure (though not invulnerable) and the platform is also a lesser target. Up till recently that has made it a safe choice. The most effective malware these days (regardless of platform) relies on the user unknowingly inviting something in.

Doesn't matter if you ripped off PS and got the malware....the fact is that MACs are not immune.

No one has ever claimed that Macs are immune to user-installed software. ;-)

I have two friends who are both Mac people that say it all the time.

Apple did it themselves :From 2006

No, they didn't. They claimed that there were no Mac OS X viruses... a claim that is still true. This is a Trojan- malware that relies upon the user to actually install it- NOT a virus.

I have run across Mac users that think their systems are invulnerable. That was the point I was making.

I apologize for starting a Mac/Windows argument from what was meant to be a reasonable warning to those that might want to use pirated software.

My Atari 130XE makes your C64 look like a sissy. :) (Bet there has never been an Atari/Commodore argument on DPC).

I haven't heard of an Amiga getting any malware lately. Seems like a very secure OS to me.

I've never been able to get my Amiga on the internet with my 300 baud modem. What browser do you use?

As is my Tandy TRS-80. Don't talk about my Tandy or say that it can get a virus.

Hey I think I can bring all this back into the topic.

I understand Mac's are built using all the parts Atari and Commodore rejected.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, bacon.

You find something wrong with this?

The instructions for constructing this massive torpedo-shaped amalgamation of two pounds of bacon woven through and around two pounds of sausage and slathered in barbecue sauce..........

Oh, and the topic is smack talking about Macs (as pointed out above), not bashing bacon, please stay on topic. :)

Don't get me wrong, I think the sausage/bacon roll is both innovative and glorious.

To get this tread back into "topic", I now suggest that wrapping a gigantic bacon/sausage roll around your computer will shield it from various types of malware.

Redundant. Most computers already have spam inside of them.
