Hi, I have just recieved a copy of the 'Professional Photographers' photos from my dads wedding, and I have to say I am not impressed... He has done some kind of PP work on them and in my opinion, ruined them.

I have uploaded a few to my portfolio (sorry dont know how to put thumbnails in :S)

Is there anything I can do about it? Im the one in the red dress, and these are the only pics I have of me and my partner, and I wanted to get them printed properly and poss on a canvas, but im almost in tears with the versions I have recieved.

I have jpgs of the whole lot, no originals included though.
Thanks

What you need is a good lawyer.
Sorry to say that, but i don't think those images can be saved (at least not from the jpgs). Looks like they were all underexposed and the "photographer" used "shadows/highlights" or similar to recover the details, than overused noise reduction .

besides the obvious "it's a nono to copy/modify someone else work without permission" ...

my guess is he seriously mucked up exposure + tried to recover using the shadow/highlight tool in ps
i'd agree they look pretty poor but unless you have the originals it may be hard to recover.... have you asked or at least let your displeasure known ??

Are these the ones???

You could try asking for all the originals in the hope that he still has them. It's possible like others have said that he messed up the exposure and did a best effort. Someone more skilled in PP might be able to do a better job of recovering them than your photographer did as there's clearly detail there to be worked with.

I told the bride, and she says 'their not too bad'...
My partner doesnt like them either.
Fortunately I havent paid anything for the disc of photos. But I think the whole lot cost the £2000, as he was meant to be a professional.
I didnt have anything to do with the planning side of the wedding, I was just told to have my camera there too, to take the more random, fun pics that happen. But obviosly I cant take pics of my and parter myself :-(

I have emailed bride again (im at uni so cant go round and properly chat) and asked about contacting photographer.

Yes Judi, they are the ones, thanks!!!

My personal opinion....Those suck for what I'd want as wedding photo's.

Maybe for something added (just for the heck of it), but not for the actual wedding photo's themselves. I hope that you can get some sort of good resolution from the photographer.

I would have said the same things... unfortunately on the photos that i've seen there is nothing to do to improve quality to print them...

but, was a professional photographer?

Dreadful. Did they bride and groom ask to see a portfolio of the photographer's previous work, or was this his first job?

Perhaps converting to b/w could save them?

Not sure if this helps much, but it at least hides what they did with the colors and brings back some facial detail.

They saw his work and was a highly reccomended person. Not a business it turns out, just one guy with a nice camera (he wouldnt let me have a look at it though :( )

Some of the photos are ok, ill up load some more, these have a 'Shiny' look to them, which isnt as bad but on people like me who are on the chubby side, it does show alot more imperfections than just a normal photo would!

I dont have photoshop on my laptop, but ill be taking them to uni wednesday and seeing if i can do anything to them.

I know I shouldnt modify his work.... but im upset, and my attempts at photoshop wont make much difference anyway lol.
More are uploaded now.... shows a variety of his PS skill... (my opinion)
