Hey,

I have been trying to make this picture that I am editing look more realistic.
Basically, it is a snow cat (aka groomer) jumping. When I look at it, I see all kinds of things that make it not look real. What can I do to make it look closer to reality?

Thanks!

and the snow cat is a lot sharper than the rest of the image. can you soften it just a hair?

The shadow of the snowcat is there, on the left. The image is side lit from the right.

I think softening the building behind the cat and the rest of the background would help.

tracks on the jump - snow spitting out of the tracks/motion blur on the tracks - along with the other suggestions...

Good idea, thanks! I'll do that.

Ok, thanks. I did a little bit Gaussian blur on the background, then masked out the jump, but a little more would help

Thanks for these ideas!

Have you ever seen anything jump off of snow? Skiers Snowboarders/mobiles/Sleds/Innertubes? Its snow, There is absolutely no snow in the air. Screams fake fake fake. Have you ever seen the Snowcat move at faster speeds? Have you seen how the snow flies around them? You have to may close attention to the smallest of details to make it look realistic.

However, the first and formost thing I noticed when I first opened this thread, in the posted image is that scale is completely off. It is way way too small, the Snowcat.

Lastly, you have to remember this multi-ton piece of moving steel is in the air, why isn't any of it droopy? Both the scoop and the rake should have some droop in it, if not bounce. However, it looks completely still, as if it is parked.

It needs action, it needs excitement and most important it needs attention to detail.

Oh yeah, I thought I saw it but didn't, the tracks left behind on the slope/jump. You need to make those look like they were made by the Snowcat. There are vertical marks on the jump when the tracks are horizontal. Cannot get more unrealistic than that.
