| RAM is memory. Look for how many MB you have. You need at least 1 GB to be able to handle photo processing and whatever else you have on your computer. |

You can check how much RAM you using by pressing and holding the ALT+CRL+Delete keys at the same time. You windows task manager box will display and look under the tab [Performance]. Under the bottom graph on the right you will see physical memory (k), this will tell you how much RAM you have and how much you are using at that time.
As far as saving files, that sounds more like HD space. You can find out how much total HD space you have and how much remains by simply clicking on my computer. It should show you the total and the available. |

RAM stands for Random Access Memory. It is, basically, the medium with which your computer executes tasks and allows you to see what's going on with your computer. It is the memory where information is stored so that it can be accessed by your CPU (Central Processing Unit). When you get the "out of memory" error, it usually means that your RAM is full, which is often from running a lot of programs or memory intensive programs for extended periods of time. If you get this error, the solution is usually as simple as restarting your computer to clear the memory cache. Otherwise it could build up faster if you simply shut down the program where you received the error.

This happens to me when I use one specific plug-in (OnOne Phototools) and never besides.
Does it only happen when you use a certain plugin? |

I had this to happen to me once in photoshop where a file would not save. What happened is I had it in 16 bit mode and was trying to save for web. Check and see if that's the case with your photo and if so just go to IMAGE > MODE > and change to 8-bit and it should save. If this is the problem.
Another thought is if you image is to big in file size and you try to save for web it can give you an out of memory error. |
