Hello,
I know you've seen the usb turntables that allow you to put your 100s of old lps onto your hard disk or CD. Cost is about $150.
One of my customers...I can't remember which one, told me he purchased a RCA to USB cable and he uses his old turntable to input into his computer.
I see that these cables are available. What software would you uses for this? Can you simply open up "sound recorder" turn on your turntable and hit record?
I can't seem to find any info on this.
Thanks, |

has to be a chip in there somewhere to do the Analog2Digital conversion & negotiate the USB protocol
won't be just a simple cable ... |

When I was doing audio recording (using microphone and sound card), I used Audacity.. I'm guessing it would work for you, thought it might be more than you really need.
edit: No idea about the rca to usb thing. I had a sound card that I plugged RCA cables into.

You can use Audacity, which is the free open-source sound editor that is thrown in with many of these USB turntables. It's what came with mine. Another one I have used is CDEX, also open-source.
When I was using my old analog turntable, I had to run the audio through my amplifier and then into my audio input jacks for the sound card. The recordings were seriously lacking and I plan on redoing those albums now that I have a USB turntable. It was $79. Here's what I bought.
