Just looking for a little guidance here.

Does the Aperture, ISO etc information help anyone viewing the images after a challenge is over? The reason I ask is as a critique clubber I've come across a couple that have N/A listed in those fields.

I had always thought this was mandatory information and a photo couldn't be entered without it - I know I scurry around so I can make sure the correct photo info is listed.

So is this information just a 'show 'em if you got 'em' type deal and something I really don't have to worry about when entering the challenges?

I alway put it in.

It is extremely helpful to put it, but it is not mandatory. I, too, used to scramble and put it in. Then, I got lazy. I have to open my original in another program besides what I usually use for post processing, and there are some weeks I just don't have enough time (those 11:45 pm, eastern, shots will get ya!). I try to remember what the settings were when I shoot, but that isn't really reliable.

It can be added later.

I believe it does help to have that infomation. Especially, if say your image is too dark or overexposed, the viewer will understand why.

The more details you include the higher the chance someone can help you with the photo. Instead of PMing you for all the info, they can suggest what settings to use or learn from you by trying the same settings.

I think all beginners to digital photography should learn what ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed is and how the #'s effect the photo.

Every good digital photography book or magazine always includes this information and also the camera and lense used.

I think it should be made mandatory for challenges entries. After all, we are supposed to be learning and the info helps to understand how the photographer acheived their image. I wish people would add these three little bits of info (aperture, ISO, & shutter) to the photos they put into threads and their portfolios too.
