I entered this image in the December Free Study -

Remnants
Score - 6.6176
Placement - 21/405

I received a question from Bear_Music asking for more information about it. So I decided to upload some other images with a bit of an explanation. Over Xmas my hubby, kids and I spent 8 days on the beach in Yeppoon. I took many photos during that trip and the Free Study entry was one of them. That particular image was taken on a windy day where the sand was flying over the beach in strips. Over the week, the weather put on a show from stormy, rainy, to hot and blue skies, with beautiful sunrises & sunsets. The soldier crabs were out in force with their little armies running across the land. We fished most days on the beach and bridge with catches up to 62 a day.

My middle child Nikolas with his catch, a Trevali.

We spent time on many different beaches, including one beach that had a late delivery of Coral Spawn. This event occurs annually, usually around September/October. But for some reason it came in late December. At one time of the year all of the Coral of the Great Barrier Reef release their spawn. If the winds are right, this gets carried up onto the beaches. It sits there for a few weeks and is incredible to see. It has a rotten but strong odour and the foam is of yellow colour. The rock pools get filled with the spawn and turn the water bright red. The water surface gets covered with an oil spill like resemblance and because it sucks the oxygen from the water, any fish in the rock pools die. Here are some shots to show you what I mean.

Here are some select images from the folder.

Certainly a lovely spot, and it looks like a grand time was had by all. I enjoyed checking out all the images, but to be honest the "info" I wanted was processing info, how the image was PP'd. Care to provide that?
