Hi everyone,
I am going to be down in Daytona at the end of the month, and I was hoping that some people could give me some points of interest or to see if anyone may be able to come and do some shooting with me while I am down there.
Thanks for the help.
Rich

Check out the Daytona Pier, Ponce Inlet Lighthouse along with the boat dock, maybe take a trip up to Fort Matanzas and even up to St. Augustine. You should also plan a morning trip to Blue Springs to check out the Manatees, get there at 8:00 am. I'll be in Vegas that week at the snow sports show or I'd join you.
Have a great trip

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, Daytona. Bike Week is coming up in only TWO short months!!! I'm there every year.
SO many things to see... I'll second the vote for Ponce Inlet -- that entire area is AWESOME. Watch your speed around the inlet area, though -- the locals are a little nuts about their speed limits, and I think the speed limit changes out there about 15 times (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating... probably just 14 times...) ;) in a couple miles. LOTS of REALLY unique houses and buildings up that way as well. Cool park area facing the ocean out there, too. Lots of various boats in harbor there as well.
I love Ormond Beach (Northwest of downtown Daytona along 1A; the opposite direction from Ponce Inlet) as well. If you're looking for unique buildings (mostly hotels, but still very interesting), that entire stretch up and down 1A/A1A is great. Lots of beach-access as well, and if it's your thing, you can even drive on sections of the beach itself (it's not my thing, but I see lots of folks doing it).
The bridges across the International Waterway (Mason/Oakridge/Main/International/Orange) are all cool, too -- great views *from* them as well as *of* them from the nearby access roads. A couple of them are really awesome sights at night, with all their lights on.
If you have the chance, I'd love to see a picture of Main Street (from Atlantic and Main, facing Southwest looking back down Main St) when you're there. I've only been there around Bike Week times, and it is, of course, crawling with other motorcycles... I've never seen it with just "normal" traffic. ;)
Are there really particular things you like to shoot or are looking for? Dayonta is a really interesting and fun area -- you can find lots of diversity in architecture and lifestyles... And, of course, more beach and beach-front-property than you can shake a stick at.
OH, and if you like BBQ, there is a BBQ restaurant you MUST try on the West side of Atlantic and between Oakridge and Main. Soooooo yummy. MANDATORY eating place for me every year I'm there. ;) There's a seafood place within walking distance of the Ponce lighthouse I've heard is awesome, too -- it's been so crowded every time I've been there, I didn't try it myself. Probably a good time of year to check them out, too...
Sorry, I'll stop rambling -- Can you tell I like Daytona? ;)

I just like being able to drive my car on the beach there :)
We passed by Daytona on I-95 last week... it's always hard to keep myself from taking that exit! |

Are there any other specifics you are looking for (i.e. kinds of things you're looking to shoot in particular)?
