Yeah I know I know.... but I'm in the market for a new shared host since I am pretty much done with siteground over the last few years and figured I would ask what people are using - Happy & Sad.....

So throw me some good options.... I don't mind following your referral links if I get what I am after :-)

What kind of sharing are you talking about? What kind of computer do you primarily use. I set up MobileMe on my boss' machine today and it was pretty nice. I noticed some sharing options there. Not sure this is what you're looking for though.

I've used DreamHost for a long time. They have a pretty nice web-based control panel interface, and lots of options (FTP upload, *nix shell access, PHP/DB options, one-click installs of blog, gallery, etc) and most importantly, they're relatively cheap.

The bandwidth can be slow at times, though it's fine for my personal collection of web junk. =)

Can't recommend them enough.

Windows IIS or Linux Apache for hosting?

Linux hosts are a dime a dozen and most pretty good for the cheap. But for quality IIS hosting, it's much harder.

Yeah I had a look at dreamhost but the recent comments seem pretty bad and that non cplanel admin interface was okay but messy. It is a good mix of features though above most of the std set of nothing but old software. Will have a look at lunar.

I am after some Linux variation not windoze... just personal preference. This is not for critical stuff on the web-site but the email is more important to me, cause I expect to get my mails :-)

hostmonster.com is serving me well with both of my sites.

Hostmonster The domain is free and it was $5.95 per month. Plus some free google search credits. Pretty much everything unlimited, also - hosting space, site bandwidth, etc.

Just one more thing - the customer support is excellent. I've used the online chat a couple of times and they were very timely in responding and informative. I was also impressed that I received a phone call to confirm my accounts the very next day that I set them up. That never happened with my old host.
