It would be fair to also say this feature isn't just limited to the 5D MK II. Canon 1D MKIII, 1Ds MKIII, 50D, Nikon D3, D3x, D300, D700, or Sony A900 Pentax K20 also do this.

Yes, there are other cameras besides the 5D-Mk2 that have this ability. The others are listed in article. However, I personally would not consider buying anything other than a 5D-Mk2. :D

Pentax K10d with previous firmware also. |

I assume you meant "step down" of course. :)
No, I've been a satisfied Canon customer for ages--since the days of the AE-1. I have yet to see anything from Nikon or Pentax that would make me want to switch.
