Saw this on another challenge board. Walk out of your house 44 steps in any directions, look down, take the shot.

And the challenge is... going into the right direction? :-)))

Like the idea, however it should maybe not reduced to look down, but also up and around. That would make it more a "Where I live"-challenge.

Or, can you find your way back home? hahahaha

I've seen this as an exercise to shoot a roll of film. 44 steps, stand, shoot 1 shot. 44 steps, kneel, shoot 1 shot. 44 steps, lie on your stomach, shoot 1 shot. Repeat 7 more times = 24 shots.

I can see it now... first will come the discussion about how people with large strides have an unfair advantage, then people wanting to know how big a step is. During voting people may vote images 1 where they think the person took only 43 or 45 steps. Sounds like fun!

I would either be in the middle of the street, the neighbors livingroom or the alley in back. Better make it 22 steps for those of us in cramped cities.

From my front door
44 steps East, I would be standing looking into my garage door,
44 steps south I would be standing in the middle of the main road,
44 steps west I would be standing looking into my neighbor's window,
44 steps north I would be in the middle of the woods looking over a 100ft cliff.
Now which way did you say to walk ?

I'd put my bet on the cliff. ;)

Now I really want to know if you actually went out and did this just to find out exactly where you'd be at.. haha. I should go do that, I need the exercise.

At least you're looking over it and not looking up it from falling to your untimely death because you miscounted in the middle and went too far! :)

Hmmm.... you got me wondering now...

44 North put me in an alley.
44 South put me in an alley.
44 East put me in an alley next to the dumpster.
44 West put me within spitting distance of the street. Needed to go 50 to make it there. Of course after 50 steps I'm at the street right in front of my truck. Wouldn't ya know it there is somebody double parked and blocking me in. Good thing I wasn't going anywhere.

Now that I read it... I live in a really crappy area.

If I take off my gloves to take a photo after 44 steps in any direction, my fingers will fall off from frostbite!

Anyone who has a cliff to look over after only 44 steps is lucky!

UGH! This was a challenge on Live Journal's Photocontest. It was a hard challenge, esp since I live in an apartment and there is nothing but parking lots around me. Maybe if not looking down... but then that pretty much is like taking a normal shot. I dunno?!?

Oh yeah I can see it now !!

LOL

One direction is a 6 lane highway and the other directions the neighbors would call the police!

what about those that live on a boat?
lol

Most people take a slightly longer stride with one leg than the other. If you do this with your eyes closed, you may be able to come full circle in 44 steps ....

I suggest picking the direction of the gangplank.
