In this days old camera, I just saw a hot pixel at a fixed pixel location. It is like an almost saturated white dot. It appears in the same location in all the pictures.. in RAW, Fine JPEG, Normal Jpeg, etc.
I tried auto sensor cleaning, still the same.
I will soon add a picture that was taken with lens lid closed with a fast shutter speed to have a dark background avoiding a long exposure.
My question is: is it a concern? I can get it returned if it is.. it is barely days old.
Here is one image that shows the pixel at (xxxx, xxxx) in teh original image:

There's no need to worry, hotness is not communicable. If it was, then you'd all be hot just from being near me.

Yea? Well I cannot go into a hardware store anymore--all the Stud Finders go off!
It's a blessing and a curse.... |

| I have a TON of hot pixels on my 30D. Shoot pinhole a couple of times and not only will you find sensor dust galore, but hot pixels as well. I never see them once I start working on a picture, though - ACR (the Photoshop software that opens RAW images) autocorrects them, it seems. |

Sometimes hot pixels can win ribbons.
Can't your camera map it out or something like that? |

LOL Art!
In my case the hot pixel ended up in a real bad spot in my self portrait so ribbons were out of the question :P

No the D90 only has a mode to capture a dust reference image.. nothing for hot pixels. If at all, there is a long exposure noise removal mode but that only works for long exposure shots. |

One update:
I figured that the hot pixel occurs ONLY when the exposure time is longer than 1/10th second. It disappears in normal high speed shots.
I can live with that.

| Then put it out of your mind and don't let it taint your excitement over your new toy. |

It might also be ISO related. |
