Now that I'm a Cape Cod washashore and a Patriots fan, I gotta say I agree with you. What a disappointment they are this year. But back in the Coryell/Fouts/Alworth glory days I was a sideline photographer for the Chargers, one of the high points of my photographic life.

Anyone who complains about how bad their favorite NFL franchise is doing, need look no farther than Detroit to find comfort and a team that truly defines the term "Suck". 0 wins, 15 losses and game #16 isn't looking up either.
Q: What do you call 40 men watching the Superbowl?
A: The Detroit Lions.

Puhleeze...I can remember the Rams with Warner, dominating the league during the regular season, winning the Superbowl and basking in the glorious light of victory...
The Lions on the other hand, have NEVER been to the Superbowl, and have qualified for the playoffs only 9 times since 1957 and in those 9 trips to the playoffs, they have won exactly one game.
The Lions have gotten the first draft pick many times and have...well...chosen poorly nearly every time.
Some teams, like the Chargers or the Rams, may have a sucky season or three, but the Lions truly suck, year after year and have done so for 5 decades.

It's pretty much blasphemy to mention those two teams in the same sentence.
My two favorite teams are the Chiefs and whoever is playing the Raiders. |

Ok, I'll give you that much and we were spoiled for a short period of time with the Greatest Show on Turf but those days are long since gone and they are no where close to being that team anymore. But you are right, to be a Lions fan has to test your fortitude, it's been ugly since Barry Sanders left and gets worse and worse every year despite first round draft pick after first round draft pick. What ever your ownership was thinking putting Mat Millen in that job and then keeping him in there as long as they did is beyond comprehension, that guy might be the worst President in NFL history. So I guess I bow to your teams suckiness and offer you my condolences, still sucks that the lambs blow but I guess it could be worse...lol.

The way my Packers have been playing lately the Lions could end the season on a good note. However the Frozen Tundra is going to live up to its name today and the Lions play inside alot so it may be the weather that beats them this time.

Let's face it... all teams suck except of course for my beloved COLTS who are now on a 9 game winning streak. You don't want to run into us in the playoffs. |

My Pats won today, and feels strange rooting for the Jets shortly after. No playoffs for us though. |

I might say that this has been one of the most exciting last days of the regular season that I can remember. I say Carolina Vs Baltimore in the Superbowl, just a prediction. |

Yeah, I guess I should have taken the over on that game, they covered it themselves. |

The over would have been smart anyways. There was a good chance that the game could have been 52-49. Both teams have no defense. |

I take solace in the fact that the Chargers will lose next week and the Broncos score a higher draft pick.
I was really hoping the Broncos would get a Christmas Present of two all pro DTs, a superstar MLB, and the second coming of Steve Atwater. But, that didn't happen. |

Their defense is like running water. I think it will take 2 years for them to get the people in place to help out the offense. + what is up with those receivers dropping the ball in such a big game! Lack of experience I think. |

You are truly giving them too much credit.
The problem is in two years they are going to be replacing Bailey (Champ, not Chump- I mean Boss).
I think the Bronc's need to do some radical thinking next year. Shift Woodyard to strong safety- he's never going to survive at LB in the NFL, except maybe in Nickel package only- the guys faster then anyone they have playing Safety and plays like he actually wants to be there.
Shift Moss to MLB, he's got good size for a MLB, but is undersized for a DL and he appears to be a decent tackler, not sure how he'd be going to a "heads up" spot. Leave D.J at the weak side, Keep Winborn for a season on the strong (lose Niko and Webster). Look for a young strong side guy.
They've got to come up with a pair of big time DTs. Ekuban and Dumervil can handle the pass rush duties if they aren't pulling double teams all the time.
Dump the one back offense (except on 3rd downs and 2nd and longs) and go primarily to a pro-set. Hillis (at FB) and Torain could eat up the league and wear defenses down. Young could be a capable 3rd down back. They need to get back to teams having to play safetys up. That frees Marshall and Royal on deep routes and takes away most of the double teams.
Just my $.02

They stand no chance unless they get some big free agent signings and some serious draft talent next year. If they take a single player on offense I will be upset. They need at least four new D-Line players to rotate in and out. I agree with you that they need to just get bigger on D as a whole. Move one of the current d-lineman into the middle linebacker spot, and get some run stop going. Make people beat you with the pass and get those corners healthy.
On offense they just need to work this off season on the run blocking, and then get some new fresh legs back there. Injured RB's are worthless. |
