Very nice pics. I think that once Art Roflmao jazzes them up a bit, they will be ready for print.

Very good looking family. I agree about the stiff looking poses and cropping comments. It looks like your white balance is off a bit as well, which is mostly noticable in the skin tones. If you have a neutral gray card (WhiBal cards are great for this) you might stick it in one of the shots to get a color reference so you can check it later.

As for sizing, I agree about not being able to embed images. There should be reasonable limits to the size, but as long as the SC react to those that complain about any size that makes the dial ups have to wait more than a few seconds, they will continue to do so. I wonder how many of those that complain on here are still out surfing the web looking at even bigger images elsewhere and not complaining?

What you could do is create a portfolio on your site. That way people from here would only have to click one link and then they would be on your site and can see thumbnails and click on the images for a bigger view.

Again, nice family. And you aren't that far off with your portraits.

Not sure I get this comment? Is he some demi-God with printing and us mere mortals can't touch his skills?

I believe if you peruse enough of his portfolio you will understand.

I was just trying to inject some humour in this thread.
No I woildn't say that he is some sort of God. He likes to add his Godzilla or woody to pics that are posted for comments and critique.

I am sure he will show up soon.

As you were..

For 7832 there seems TO be too much on top, I mean tree, crop more on the botton less on top.
7809 is much better cropped/setup. 7929 is a great composition of subjects, tree-people-fire, a bit too, centered for me.
7920 seems like she's hiding her "chest", no need for that.
7914 has a nice shadow-effect, she could be LOWER(or shoot higher), if you want to see the presents, too. Otherwise the piece of shin is distracting.
I'd crop on the Left to include the Red-Ball or Gold-Cage ornament, puttting her eyes in the Upper-Right Thirds, as a Vertical-Portrait.
7906 the hands look chopped-off, possible crop, but different pose of hands would solv that.
7894 is nice composition, but lighting is better on other shots. The shadows seem to fall straight-down below the Top-right girls nose. comparatively 7861, is better and 7809 is even better lighting.

ADDED: They can be greatly improved in Post-Processing

I'm looking to see them pop-out in sharpness, so I prefer to blur and/or darken the background or shoot with narrower DOF, if possible. I also prefer the "Rembrandt" style lighting to make them more 3d. That's just my IMHO/POV, I'm not a professional, but try to do things professionally in quality, when I have the time.

Your exposure is great. I recently shot a family session on location and wasn't able to do nearly as well. Great job!

2 comments that I dont really see here
1 the shot with the 2 laying on their bellies, if you angle them in at 45deg then turn and look at you it will look less like a mug shot
2) on the family group pose the lady in the back is not as well lit, either need a light source bouncing on her or have her lean forward to get better light
