How popular and advisable is it to use a lenspen to clean the front lens glasses?

Is it better/worse than using a solution and a wipe?

I thought any method that involves a contact with the glass (errr coating) is no good as it can leave scratches if solid particles get stuck?

ETA: I found older posts in this regard.

Still curious whether the blower methods would work better?

Have been using a lens pen for a while now. Though it is very convenient, you MUST be vigilant to ensure the cleaning pad is kept free of any contaminents. The cleaning pad is glued to the housing and may peel back leaving the glue to be exposed to some form of grit. Other than that, I've fortunately had no problems. I would say though the safest way of cleaning the lens would most certainly be the use of a cloth or wipe. Hope that helps.

I love mine, it was one of my first purchases when I got my new camera. As long as you use the brush to remove any particles, then there is no risk of scratches. I sometimes breath on the lens first if I get an oily finger print on there which helps a little. Otherwise I think they are great, buy one right now and always carry it with you.
