I have not. Given the exchange rate, I'm not sure if it would be a good deal or not. I'll take a look. Thanks. I did try several local shops - no luck there. Edit to add that Amazon.de is also showing Composers out of stock.

So. New present to self for Christmas - shiny new florescent light for the laundry room! Woo hoo! Bah freakin' humbug.

Oh, that was a great idea, they are a mom 'n pop business believe it or not, and bend over backwards to help. They very well might send you the correct one and have you send them the one you have, so they could restock it... Assuming they have a secret stash of Canon-mount Composers :-)

If you try to order a Canon mount on the LB site, it says they're out of stock. But I did send an email explaining what had happened and Kirsten, Director of Customer Happiness, said to order and she'd get one out this afternoon (her time - 'tis night here) so I'm hoping they do indeed have a secret stash somewhere. I'll send the other one back to B&H tomorrow. Keep fingers crossed!

Good news Deb, I was feeling pretty shitty for you. Keep us updated.

In the mean time, let us not forget I have that nifty new shiny light in the laundry room! I may have to take a picture of it. Even got the little doo-dad thingie you plug in to "start" the shiny new light! Very nice guy at the Hornbach helped me get the right light - I even understood most of what he was saying, too.

Woo! Got mine this morning! Takes a while to get used to finding the sweet spot, but boy is it ever fun to experiment with!

Congrats on your new toy(s)!

A few days ago someone posted a thread announcing a contest on another site where one could win a new lensbaby composer. Now I can't find that thread at all. Does anyone remember where the contest was?

Hope you don't mind my tacking this in here. But I see that all of the lens baby models specs at B&H say they don't work with a D80. Does that mean I'm out of luck?

From this: //www.lensbaby.com/faq.php, it looks like you can use a lensbaby but it won't meter in aperture priority mode on the D80.

Edit:

That info on B&H is misleading. It says, "Automatic light metering is possible by shooting in aperture priority mode with many pro cameras. Cameras not compatible are the D40, D50, D60, D70, D70S, D80, D90, D100, N50, N65, N70, N75, N80, & Fuji S1, S2, and S3." It should say "Cameras not compatible with automatic light metering are the..."

Thanks, So I take that to mean that if I shoot manual mode, it's not an issue at all?

That's the way I read it. If you really really want to make sure you might want to shoot the Lensbaby people an email listen to Bear. :)
