I've just been viewing challenge results in regards to my own scoring as opposed to that of others, and interestingly enough, I find that many times I did not even vote on the top shots, but voted on several of the middle range ones. Also interesting to me is that my scoring may have been higher or lower than the average on a particular picture which I can see has a lot to do with my own abilities and environment. In other words, I shoot a lot of nature/landscapes. If I see what I consider to be a well done landscape, I tend to score it higher than the average - but one that I consider to be poorly done I score lower than the average. I also tend to score higher shots that technically I think are difficult - but sometimes that's just because it's something I haven't tried before. I'm wondering if others have looked back this way to analyze their own voting patterns?

I didn't mean this as a rant or to be critical of the system of voting - just an observation, and I truly wonder if others have noticed the same about themselves?

It really shouldn't matter how subjective you are because there is a form of internal integrity assuming you vote on every image. Tastes do vary so don't be concerned with anyone else's opinion of a shot, much less whether it places first or last. Your duty (if such a phrase is applicable) is to ensure that you have been honest to yourself in the rating you gave.

I was very happy with my shot. Not many others were. Their problem, not mine.. (c;

BTW, thanks to all of those that commented!

Voting should be subjective, that is the whole point about having voters.

Of course voting is subjective. However, I always try to vote on ALL the photos in the challenge. Then I can evaluate all the pictures in releation to all the others.

Just my .02 worth
