Thanks to everyone who took a guess or commented on my picture. I̢۪m sorry that nobody was able to guess the correct answer. Judging from the score, I guess it wasn̢۪t a very good picture so I am probably somewhat to blame. Either that or you all are not making it in to your friendly dentist to get your teeth cleaned at least twice a year as you should! I hope everyone took this little exercise in the manner in which it was intended. That was, to have some fun and get people to look just a little longer at my picture. In the spirit of good will, for all those who did comment, please email to me your address and I will send you a free (unused) toothbrush! Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to comment and play the game.:)
By the way, the subject of my picture was rubber polishing cups used in the dental office to polish your teeth when you have them cleaned. |

Oh man, I would have never guessed that! Thanks for the reveal, I was wondering if I was anywhere close (I was NOT).
BTW, a very ingenious way to get folks to stop & look longer. |

Well I see that now ... did you change the color? I think the ones my dentist uses are brown or red. |

I wonder if you set a record for most comments during a challenge. :-) |

I haven't seen the colored ones. The prophy paste is usually colored and flavored. I used a white backround because I thought it would give the subject a more aseptic appearance. That is, assuming that you knew what they were! I took several shots. I just thought the overexposed version was the most interesting. |

I wasn't really trying to break any records, but it was fun to see how many people took a guess. I only wish it were a better picture. Maybe we could have a whole competition where the theme is to take a picture that the viewer must guess what the subject is. That would be interesting. |

Nice contest within a contest! Only 53 comments though! Should have had a lot more.

Interestingly enough, these obscure thinkers came up with the same idea. Great minds think alike! (If I can say so myself.) |

I'm guessing that if it were in the open challenge and not the member's challenge I would have had more comments. Maybe I will try again in the future with a better picture. I would be interested in knowing if everyone was OK with this idea or did I rub anyone the wrong way.

I think it's barely possible to create legal issues if you offer (esp. cash) prizes. Maybe you should offer an more "honorary" prize or send them a print or something. Just my opinion though, nothing "official."
I'd say only do it if the image inspires it, but don't go out of your way .... |
