Hey Everyone,

There has been much talk about registered users and how they should support the site and become a member. For the most part, at least personally, I agree. But since I can't 'cause I'm dirt poor, I thought I'd give us registered users an opportunity to explain why we don;t or just haven;t yet become a member.

I also don;t think the only way to support the site is to become a member. I think using the site and particpating is also a big way of supporting this site.

What say you all?

It is when you're broke! $25 whole dollars! May not be an acceptable reason for you but it's my reason nonetheless. Why don;t you lend the bucks to me since it means so little to you! :)

No problemmo :) Just come and pick it up, then I'll give it to you.

I don't know about you, but often people say something like this an the next day go to mcdonalds, it just a matter of prioraty.

it may, or may not be a good excuse.. as i see it, anyone who can afford a digital camera, extra memory chips, a computer, an internet conenction, can spare 25$ on a site they visit almost every day, and learn so much from.. thats why i pitched in.. 7 cents per day for a years worth of learning, sounds like a deal to me.

Rooster I don't look down on you [or anyone] for not paying to become a member. Just join when you can and in the meantime have fun.

So oskar, what I hear you saying is that this site is all about money, whether you can afford it or not? Is that your offical statement or would you like to rephrase your response?

Dude that is so wrong! I never eat at McDonald's & should you really be judging & assuming things about people you dont even know? What's the point of all this if this is just a lie anyway? Besides, the things you assume about others are more of a reflectionof yourself than anything else. Food for thought!

THe camera, an expensive one, was a gift I got a while back, the computer is not mine, but my sister's, and all the other amenities I do not have. But hey, if you have to assume to make your point, knock yourself out!

How come no one has yet to address that giving money isnt the only way to support the site? Or is the money more important that participating?

Refracted. you're right up there with oskar. What I ask myself is, is this a site I want to spend my money on and support. Based on the two of your answers, NO. I don̢۪t support bias opinions based on how much you can afford or what your priorities are. That my friend is none of your or anyone else̢۪s business on this site.

Are you two the spokespersons for this site? Is this what this site is about?

Well put & I whole heartedly concur! Why should we have to feel bad about not being members just bc you are? Why should we have to follow you or feel bad about it. This site can force people to become members if they really needed to but they don;t. So why are most members (not Justine)such haters and wanting others to be followers?

if you read carefully, i said it may or may not be a good excuse.. i also said "anyone who can afford.." .. if you didn't buy your camera, i wasn't talking to you.. Sure you can contribute in other ways, but this site has a big technical need, bandwidth, etc.. i felt the least I could do was become a member. If you want to contribute in other ways, write tutorials, etc.. i'd be all over them, and i'd be thankfful.. please dont read too much into this..i didn't want to make anyone feel bad..

Dude! You have FOUR cameras! You (I assume) obviously have the cash money to pay for membership. I understand now why you can;t imagine why no one else can. Your world seems like a nice place. Can I come over & play?

Not at all, I don't give a damn if someone pays or not, I didn't pay at first, but I didn't come here saying that it was because i was to poor, I just didn't feel like paying, and that's just fine to use all the free things that you can get, I've got nothing against it at all.
Just some misunderstanding.

I said, people often ....... not you. I was absaloutly not trying to be rude here. Just mean that everybody how is here has some money. Enough for clothes, food, camera, internet connecetion etc... Everybody have "some" money, it's just a matter of prioraty. I'm not judging you in any way, not in ANY way, and specially not for using the free things that you can get here.

"should you really be judging & assuming things about people you dont even know?" quote.

I don't hate non members, I was one up to a couple of days ago.The way I saw it I joined in, enjoyed the site and as soon as I could afford it I joined. Nobody is forcing anyone.

Thanks but have you read some of the thread lately? All about members dissing registered users. I mean, I think this site is gerat & I wanna join as soon as I can but folks keep acting like becoming amember is the only to contribute & support the site. I think this is wrong. The last thread, C'mon, it's about time, was posted by all members who love the site. Well, that's great. THat's why they joined. WHy assume that everyone should join just bc they love the site? I mean, it's just wrong!

Hey Cool Cats, Oskar & Refracted,

I was joshing & being facetious (sp?). I'm just trying to give a (somewhat failed attempt) at a comical counterpart to the recent threads by members calling out registered users to join up.

It was just a joke. I love my world, poor & all. I dont feel bad for myself & dont want or expect anyone else to. Just having some fun or trying to. Hope I'm not doing so at anyone else's expense. If so, my bad!

I simply cannot believe that, apparently, my thread from earlier today has generated this much divisive, incendiary, and yes, down right nasty commentary. If any of you read my original post, I in no way desire to "force" anyone to do anything, nor do I "look down" upon anyone who cannot afford, or simply chooses not to join. It is their personal choice.
I used the words "encourage", and "consider". My post was meant as positive reinforcement for a positive community. In response, some of you used words like "ragging" "haters", "force"
I hope some of you will look at your own posts and ask whether your language and attitude are in any way positive.

Sheesh.

Come back! Just having some fun, that's all. Didn;t mean to make you feel bad! I just used your thread as an example of threads going on about becoming a member. If you check out what I said, I agreed with what was said in those threads, including the one you started (which I didnt know you did, so it wasnt a personal attack or anyting). Just offering up some reason why folks havnet joined yet & apparently being poor is no excuse! :)
