Folks, A tear in the retina is serious stuff. But, eye surgery has progressed to amazing levels.

In March and again in May 2003 I had the lenses removed from my eyes, yes, I said my eyes! I had plastic implants installed. I went from 20/80 in the right eye to 20/15. The left eye went from 20/40 to 20/20.

I can now see, perhaps properly for the first time. The slightest suggestion of real surgery on my eyes was scary at first. But, I can now keep my driver's licence now, so it was worth it.

The second eye surgery was a breeze. I had to be woken up twice in the surgery prep room because I kept falling asleep because I was so relaxed lying on the gurney. My snoring was annoying the other first-timers who were all scared. One man yelled at me for being too relaxed. He was terrified and over stressed. He needed drugs for sure.

The truth is that it is no big deal, honest. Since eye surgery, specifically cataract surgery is now the most common form of surgery in the world and the general population is aging and living longer. Most of us DPCers can expect to have it too.

It pays to take good care of your vision. Heck, you clean your camera lenses like you are polishing the crown jewels. So, why not give your only set of eyes at least the same consideration. By the way, I am only 47 which is very young for this sort of eye surgery. So, it is coming soon for us all. Cheers, Michael

Ah, but the question on everyone's mind now, is, can you tell a difference when you are photographing?

Okay, I just wanted to thank everyone participating in this thread. I was having a down day, and you all made me laugh!! Maybe it is my sick sense of humor, but I guess you never know what to expect in these forums! :-}

Karma,

Unfortunately, and rather sadly, I must report that I still suck at photography. Do not get me wrong - I love it! But, I still have no creative talent, cherished DPC ribbons, and no masses of adoring fans praising my every image.

I dream that Santa will bring one or two of Jacko's images to use as my very own DPC submissions. Then, I would win for sure.

Cheers, Michael

Morgan, looks like you finally put up a profile pic. I think YOU are Santa Claus. Now I'm pissed, I asked for a Canon 70-200mm IS in my letter to you, but now I know I'll only get chunks of coal. Shoulda gone Nikon.

Jacques, everyone knows that "Only Nikon Users" are good little boys and girls.

Those bad, evil, dark side of the force, Canon types, need not write to Santa. Santa will not be coming to their desktops this year. He will just mail them a XEROX [not Canon] copy of a lump of coal instead of a generous image download that the sweet Nikon Users will open on Christmas morning. [LOL]

hmmmmm. I now see why Santa has the same letters as Satan. The good news is that us Canonites have more fun for the rest of the year.
