So, I just saw Kodak's ad on tv for the ESP 7 all-in-one printer and it looks appealing on the face.

Ink priced cheaper, pigment based ink they say will never fade.

2400 PPI 48-bit color scanner, computer free copying, printing from camera card, LCD screen, wifi and usb, mac and windows compatible.

8.5x11 inch largest print, dual-sided with built in duplex.

But, no offense to Kodak but I am not 100% trusting of Kodak in a professional sense. I've been looking for a good color printer though, this one is $200, and about $30 for ink.

So it looks like a good deal, but is it?

Here is a url to the product page: //www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=13547

Thanks a bunch for any help on this one guys! :)

Ah come on, pretty please? Someone has to have an opinion, is it because I said I don't trust Kodak? Did I break a cardinal rule? Am I just too ugly to help? It isn't my fault all my feathers are black. Have I used up all my help credits? If so how do I earn more???

Whines!!

OK, I'll put in two cents:

I bought the model 5300 last year, apparently this models predecessor. It's O.K. For 4x6 prints of family pics, etc. it's great. 4x6 clarity and color and contrast are very good. 5x7, not bad. 8x10 is pushing it. I have made some pretty good prints, but I've also wasted some time and paper and ink trying to make 8x10. Hit or miss.

Ink is pretty inexpensive. Cartridge is very easy to change. B&W cartridge is cheap and lasts a long time.

Don't expect fast action. The software is very cumbersome. It is not very intuitive, and the steps needed to get a print in hand are confusing and vague.

The printer takes a long time to decide it knows what it's supposed to do.

The scan/copy aspect is pretty handy and easy, and good quality.

Again, this is on the model 5300. The specs on the ESP7 read very similar. I would expect very similar technology and performance.

I am in no way a professional. If I were, I don't think I would pick this as a tool to help make money. Hobby stuff, O.K. Money stuff...nah.

Thank you, so it sounds like it would make a good family printer, especially in a family that only has one BW laser shared between them. But not something I want to use to start printing proofs for clients, but fine for printing out a few 4x6's for mom to show people at her work. Sounds good. Thanks again farfel!! :)

All the best to you!
