At the moment I only have a kit lens (14-42) for my E510.

However, macro stuff really interests me and I find that my kit lens is (obviously) not designed for this.

This is about as "macro" as I can get.

Anyway, I plan on getting a 35mm Macro for christmas, but I want to know, has any one found that new equipment makes their final shots better? Or am I just going to have to learn to be a "better" photographer?

Advice is appreciated, thanks yeee.

Dan.

A lens might help, but 99% of it is between the ears of the person behind the camera.

I'd like a lens that's designed for the things I am specifically interested in, which is close-ups and detail. I'm really not into people, landscapes etc haha.

In short, yes it will but mostly because it can´t hurt. I don´t know the Oly lenses but first of all my experience is that prime lenses will always deliver better quality than zoom lenses, you should gett better bokeh, contrast and colors, sharpness as well of course. Then also get closer and all that stuff. I do agree with Spazmo99 though about it being about what´s behind the camera but to make the most of that you also need good equipment.

The Zuiko 35mm is meant to be really good, I'd get a 50 but they're waaaay expensive for a student, my mum is still freaking out at me buying the body.

I find it hard to be inspired at the moment, because the shots I like to take, such as the fly, need a suitable lens for best results. So I just don't bother trying.

This was taken with my kit lens, I wish i could get right inside that pic, so I will get the Macro lens haha.

Will a new lens improve your photography? No, but it might help you improve your photography. :)
