Thanks!

No "Feast" shots for me however - no time (or patience) for taking photos when everyone is HUNGRY! :-)

Thanks. I'm pleased with the first impression. The photos in the OP are resized and usm (.35,100,10) only.

What were the specs on the fruit bowl one? I'm curious to see if this was wide open with nice bokeh like that.

eta. Also, is this the II version or the first? No II in the stats but want to be sure. I'm looking at this lens for my E3, the II version, that is.

eta again. Just checked the DPC page for the lens, you're the first owner of a Sony version so this must be the II version.

Thanks for the feedback...

The fruit bowl specs:
F4.0, ISO 400, 1/200, @180mm

The lens is the new EX DG HSM II model. :-) I love how quiet and smooth this lens is!

Not entering? Are you talking about the 'Feast' speed challenge?

I'm not entering either, but the photos I posted in this thread wouldn't really be what I foresee this challenge being about primarily. I imagine that what will do well for the 'Feast' challenge will be some food dishes shot while on the table - the kind of stuff you might see accompanying a recipe photo or food magazine advertisement.

Thanks for the kind words - very much appreciated. :-)

Thanks G.

This will probably end up on my camera body in early 2009. I haven't had a long lens in over six months and I miss it very much.

Cheers :).

I honestly thought that shot would be badly received... I've got a lot to learn about this place!
