I recently got this strap, and I LOVE it!

I like the Optech straps, but I tend to value comfort over decoration. I use the clips whenever the strap gets in my way. If I'm working on a tripod and the strap is dangling awkwardly or blowing around, two clicks and it's gone.

thanks....
I've been looking at all that have been mentioned....and was looking for 'uniqueness' too...

BUT you answered the clip question, while I still ponder.

been really thinking about the BlackRapid....is it really as good as it sounds?

I keep looking at the BlackRapid strap as well and the only thing that has kept me from getting it is that it attaches to the tripod port on the camera. I keep a tripod plate on my camera all the time because I'm constantly switching between tripod and handheld, and it just seems like a pain to have to unscrew the cap and put on the plate all the time.

Love the idea though.

If the tripod plate has a D ring on the bottom then the strap can be attached to that.

Lots more feedback on the BlackRapid there. Moose is right--if going on and off a tripod a lot, might be a pain. On the other hand, a normal strap is a pain when on a tripod anyway--at least with this one, the strap will be off the camera when on a tripod.

For me, if I am hand-carrying, I am hand-carrying. If I am on a tripod, I tend to carry the tripod and camera together.

I will add that I also have the CAMDAPTER HANDSTRAP mounted simultaneously with the BlackRapid, and this combination is the ultimate solution for me.

I would note that the Camdapter handstrap works well with "normal' neckstraps, too. And it just so happens to use an arca-compatible mounting plate, so it already worked for my arca swiss tripod head! Sweet.

I thought about the black rapid but my guess is that it works far better with something like a 70-200 otherwise the body would sit the wrong way. Great idea though.

I have a camdaptor hand strap on the right side (not the plate from them though as I have an RRS clamp that has a left hand strap connector) and on the left have a PacSafe strap. It unclips when not in use and is a great little strap - I hate the big ones. Has the added benefit of providing a little better security over the normal.... but not bolt cutter proof or anything.

That's what I need! They drive me nuts in the studio. I'm thinking of removing my strap altogether and using a hand grip.

ETA, actually upon further study, this strap is exactly like I have but a different brand. I was talking about the straps that stay on the camera after removing the long part that goes around your neck. I would need a strap with really short straps that mount to the camera, like 2 inches, max.

My Bogen/Manfrotto plate has a D ring, and the strap VERY easily hooks and unhooks from that D ring.

I have taken my camera for two decent walks using that strap and I love the way the camera hangs at my hip. It feels comfortable and secure, and it is so quick to get the camera into position for a shot.

My wife got me one of those fat straps. Not very good at all, sewn poorly. It has quick release clips, but they are big and bulky and are always dangling on my camera even withy strap off. It feels like a cheap strap covered with cheap fabric. I like the idea of some funky 60's material, so I looked for a better solution.

I then found the perfect camera strap at Souldier Camera Strap They use vintage fabrics from the 60's with recycled seatbelt. A real strong gorgeous strap. You can custom pick out from 450 fabrics, pick a color of seatbelt, pick hardware, etc. And see what it looks like before you buy it. I bought several for birthday and Christmas presents. I got the same fabric on my camera strap that Jimmy page had on his double neck guitar. Awesome!

I like the rapid strap too as it seems it would work for some situations. That's next on my list.

I have a Tamrac strap with clips. It's nice to be able to take it off easily when using a tripod. What I woudl love though, is a clip system that would let me attach either a neckstrap of a wrist strap as desired.

Thanks for all the recommendations.

I decided against the phatstraps...at least for now, as I still couldn't decide on it....and I just ordered my husband a op/tech strap...so I'll see how I like his and then decide...

It looks like the RapidR hooks into the tripod screw? That scares me abit? what am I missing?

Im giving serious thoughts to the RS-2 Rapid strap, If our dollar didn't suck so bad at the moment it would prob be an easy decision but between the exchange rates and shipping Im prob looking close to $100cdn by the time it gets here... :(

For those of you that have this, where did you find it in stock? And did you order the RS1, RS2, or RS4? I think I have decided to order one of these for when I am on assignment and carry two bodies. I like the concept and I think the design will work well for me.

One last question how large of a camera and lens have you used and felt safe with it? I will be carrying a 70-200 F2.8 and a 1 series camera on it.

So, I have ordered three kinds, and gave one of them to my brother. The one with the "cell phone" pouch is the one I gave him--I think it would be good for carrying a lot of cards, and the cell phone pouch could be good for batteries, lens cap, etc.--but it was too thick for me: I need to be able to wear this strap under a jacket to keep my camera out of the precipitation sometimes. My brother lives in the desert, so he doesn't have that particular concern :-)

I like the other two--I just ordered the newest one: not at thick, and will still tote some memory cards.

The strap and tripod mount are very strong/sturdy. I have a d80 with battery grip and an 18-200 zoom. No "risky" feeling at all. As an alternate, which I had before this, I used the Upstrap system, and my particular favorite was the bandolier strap version.

I ordered them directly from the site, and they each arrived within 5 days or less.

I've used, and still do, this one on one camera and this one on the other, for four plus years now. The Boomerang, although comfortable, is beginning to fray a little. The LoewePro Voyager still looks like new.

I want a DPC strap.

I actually prefer old thin straps.
for Nikon F3 HP 1983; also for Leica R3 1977 - Each, thin narrow profile, stitched & reinforced leather.
for Pentax MX - Thin narrow woven nylon
for Olympus E-10 - Wimpy thin, wide woven nylon
I also like the fairly unassuming wider nylon Pentax K100 strap.

Thanks I ordered direct from them, and ordered the new RS-4. I'll see how long it takes to get here and if I like it or not. I used some Christmas money to pay for it.
